I love all the 2012 join date posters in here with no where near 5 years worth of posts], its like they were conceived during the old Gruden threads and came to life with this one. Myself included.
My dads uncle was WWII b24 pilot. I've been
enamored w all planes in that war since.
Go to every airshow I can .
There was a meeting with Currie and a lot of the big boosters on Saturday evening. The same Saturday evening that saw #grumors grow to absurd levels (looking at you, Calhouns). On Sunday, we started getting a lot of bad news (not all - but a lot of it not great).
It's not farfetched to assume that an action item discussed was to get all parties to deflect as much as possible over the next few days to allow Currie to do this on his/Jon's time.
1) AD starts leaking information about upcoming coaching interviews (all the while Currie is traveling to the Bahamas)
2) Gruden has one of his ESPN buddies pieces put out a piece saying he didn't think he would coach in Knoxville
3) Boosters start leaking information that there are more problems that haven't been sewn up yet
With the exception of a few steadfast posters, a lot of the #grumor frenzy has died down this week to at least a low murmur. If they're operating on a timeline (say, 11/28) and need to keep the distractions to a minimum until the time comes, this seems like the perfect execution of that plan.
Of course very few know exactly what's going on (including myself), but you don't even get to this point "in negotiations" for a second time in 5 years without knowing what Jon needs to accept the position and having all of the legwork already done including the academics portion. That doesn't pass the smell test imo.
Curious what it says. I know that the two boosters I had dinner with Friday said that they were meeting up with a few people at the game. Sounded more like a fairly informal "meeting of the minds" to me so I thought nothing of it.
Also, flight N700UT is now going to PORTSMOUTH, NH (Chip Kelly). Seems way too on the nose so I would assume the owner is trolling the fanbase.
Interesting tidbit:
@JohnDBrice1: Can confirm the 3rd-quarter meeting involving Peyton, Currie & boosters per first-person eye-witness account from suites ... good, responsible work here from Grant ... Twitter
Did not know the Ford bit/wild . Griffin was a few hundredNapier Sabre on the Tempest V. A 24 cylinder monster. I think it made 3000hp (maybe it was 4?). Anyway, more powerful than even the P&W R2800.
What did the Griffin make? 1500-1700hp? I know the Merlin was close to 1250.
Edit: not so fun fact. The reason the Merlin was license built by Packard and not Ford was because Rolls Royce knew that Henry Ford actually used to send Hitler birthday presents before the war, and the Brits werent too keen on that.
