Even AV's comment about "I know all won't be comfortable" with the plans, could refer to people wanting an early announcement as opposed to a late one.

Yes it's ambiguous, but let's not pretend it can't just as easily be interpreted one way as the other. :)

I could see him falling into a situation like Strong, similar demands at Texas and Tennessee that they couldn’t live up to...

I think he could potentially have interest since we have a whole new set of people running things in the Athletic Department than the incompetent idiots we had when that all happened. But maybe he still holds ill feelings towards TN. Just think where we could be if Hamilton had hired Patterson instead of Kiffin. We wouldn't be going through our 4th hire since Fulmer.

Agreed. I read it the same way. Never got the impression that he wasn't possible anymore but that Currie has a great back up plan if he doesn't come.

I think that’s a bit of a stretch. Could that have been what he meant? Sure. However I think the totality of his comments add up to the deal still being in progress and not “done.”
