I agree, and I would bet on AV's word over anybody's. The deal not being done doesnt mean it wont be but it does hurt after all these "insiders" saying it was done.

IMO, the fanbase should stay fullbore Gruden. Even more now than before. Keep pressure on Currie to the fact that we have been the doormat for the SEC the last decade with no obvious attempt by UT to fix it over this same decade. Just make a reality of the fact that we are "mid major U" by their actions and Vol fans have continued to show up in full force game after game, home and away. This time WILL BE DIFFERENT!!!

We need to keep the pressure on the AD for Gruden or bust so common sense will say if he shows up to the PC with another mid major coach or a bad OC/DC or an unproven guy, the fans $$$ will not go to UT athletics.

We expect a homerun and wont settle!

There will always be "some" who don't like any hire. Kind of a meaningless thing to say

I don't think the fanbase will have any sway at this point. It sounds like Currie has offered a truckload of $$$ to Gruden and now it is his call!

6. There is a sense of urgency to get this done as quickly as possible but you can’t force someone’s hand purely with $$$. If it were that easy we would have someone already.

I hope everyone who was able to go to game yesterday enjoyed the experience as much as possible. I was bummed that the weather sucked....first time in box for entire game for me in a long time.

I am around a bit today relaxing preparing to turn and burn for the holiday week...I wish each and everyone of you and your families a wonderful thanksgiving holiday. Take time to hug your wife, kids, and parents if they are still around. That’s what its all about.

I really think too many people are taking what he said the wrong way. Atleast to me nothing indicated we weren't getting Gruden but there is a back up plan in case and most fans would be happy about plan B. I could be the one misreading his post but nothing gave me indication that Gruden was no longer an option. Definitely doesn't sound like a done deal either but there is still hope until there's not.

Am I missing something. I didn't get anything out of av post that insinuated anything that was new or negative about gruden what are you guys reading?

Also where is the plan b quote I keep reading about. I don't see that in his post

The upside on getting JG as head coach would be getting several of the decommits back where any other hire would lessen that chance and in turn prolong the time it would take to make UT competitive again.

Just read that Butch Jones is already getting interest from a Power 5 school.

What would you guys think about him instead of Gruden? I've heard good things via his agent.

I'm honestly surprised more of you haven't interpreted AV's comments on "plan a, plan b" as referring to the timing of an announcement rather than the hire itself.

AV didn't provide detail, because he said early on that he would respect the process and not step on any announcement.

Just $.02.

The 49ers are paying Kelly $6 million/year for the next 2 years, so the Bruins could lowball him and still get him.
