OFFICIAL Gregg Marshall Thread

not disagreeing with you... i do not seeing him coming to the Vols.. not after being rejected twice. for me bottom line is that no one is a sure thing even marshall. he could get and stink to high heaven for one reason or another....

They have people advising them as well. Just like Martin did. He needed to cash in and go. Some dont need or have to. If you are Marshall and the rep he has built and as close to a lifetime contract as possible, why leave? To try and win an sec tourney?

How many times are you going to bring that up? So what somebody told me they thought something was up since we were going over the number and I shared it. And that was prior to people knowing we would sign over 25. Get over it.
Just stop "telling" us that our ad is too cheap to get Marshall. You are wrong. Deflect all you want.

Provide some quotes or links that supports yours, and I'll do the same. Multiple people have said Tennessee won't go big.

If Tennessee ends up with White then clearly you're F'n wrong, but surely you're used to that by now.

100% agree.....

I think he could get a bigger job than Tenn.

even if we assume that UT offered Marshall 2.5, 2.75 or even 2.8 doesnt mean he would take the job.

Agree, but VQ said if they would've been serious and called at 2.5 Marshall's people let Tennessee know they would sit down and talk. That hasn't happened because Tennessee isn't wiling to go that high.

Funny I usually agree with Sparta and not BTO but I think BTO is spot on on this one. Until we pay big money for a quality coach I cant debate Hart is cheap. Hes cheap. We have always been cheap. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck............

I dont believe that VQ has anymore knowledge than any other media source.

and I will add that I dont think that UT was willing to go 2.5 for Marshall in the first place regardless of what is reported.

If tn ends up with White, then I'm F'n wrong that Marshall would come to UT for 3 mil?

That makes no sense. Go figure.

Think about this....

Over 4 years.....

$2.5 x 4 = $10million
-$1.3 buyout CM
+400k buyout GM

Total investment in GM over 4 years = $9.1 million

Cuonzo Martin over 4 years
1.85 x 4 = $7.4 million
If you had to fire him = +1 million buyout
Cost of buying out a new coach = ?? $500k estimated

Total investment: $8.9 million

So if Marshall could be had for $2.5, it's not much different than what Hart offered CCM.

That's the problem with Bto. You get confused about points with his deflecting. I didn't say Hart wasn't cheap. I said Marshall wasn't leaving wichy state to come to UT. Period. Too many cons vs his current situation.

I have said many times that you pay on the front end or pay on the back end if you are lucky enough to find a coach like CBP or that ilk.

And I never said he was coming to UT, so why try to make it appear that's what I'm saying?

If UT wasn't cheap they wouldn't end up with a coach that's likely gonna make less than the last.

Then that's your fault, because they've proven time and time again to have better info. No secret that Hubbs is fed info from UT

point is I dont think they have any real info now. and most of what you are doing is posting what VQ is saying. they are not even saying that "that an unidentified unconfirmed source said _______".

If we dont hire marshall that does not mean we didnt offer or that we said we would go X dollars to get him if they would listen.......

you cant be any older than your early 20's to make the outlandish statements that you make over and over.

They may be wrong this time, although everyone else seems to be saying the same, but IMO they've proven in the last to be very trustworthy.

If U.T. wasn't cheap they would show either Cronin or Mack enough cash to pull them out of Ohio. Both would be an upgrade to Martin at this point in his career. If you want someone who can recruit, Mack is your guy. He pulled Blueitt, one of the top players in the state of Indiana, away from Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, and he pulled Macura, one of the best players in Minnesota away from Minnesota. White might be a good coach, but he doesn't have close to that sort of recruiting cache.

If you could just use in your opinion. It doesn't make sense to some, including myself to pay someone 2-2.5 mil to somebody their is a question mark on whether they can produce or not, here. When you can hire a similar question mark for half. And the guy for half usually has a bigger chip on his shoulder to be successful than the guy that just got the big pay day.

So given that thought process it would make the AD cheap?

Marshall is a question mark for you?
