And they would probably be right!

Their fans are laughing their asses off at us. Saying we are delisional and rednecks lol. Saying no way CGM comes here. One said that UT was a slightly better job than Tulsa right now. Said we'll end up with a no name.

Going to be honest: aside from money, what would Gregg Marshall's motivation be to start a rebuilding project at a school that isn't top-tier in the sixth-best conference in America?

6th best conference in Amerca?
I do believe the SEC was the only conference in America that had 2 teams in the final 4.

Well considering he wanted the job 2 times before, he must like something about the job.

I was laughing at their round 2 exit after an unbeaten season. That was funny.

He also said only 2 SEC schools care about bball. One of those schools cant get more fans than the Lady Vols get, and they win all the time. He showed his lack ok knowledge there.

Funny; I'm assuming he means Florida is the other school, and they don't care about basketball more than we do.

On top of that does he want to deal with a fan base who will turn on you in a drop of a dime.

If I were Marshall, I would stay where I am at-Wichita State. Wichita State is in an area that is easy for him to recruit good players, the program is rock solid, he has everything that he wants there. Why would he want to rebuilt at Tennessee? He already makes $2 million plus and is the king at Wichita State. Would UT be willing to pay him more than Butch jones? That is what it would take to get him.

He knows Tennessee isn't going to pay the money Marshall would need so he is totally confident in writing what he wrote. We pay 1.5 million maybe 1.8 since were getting 1.3 from Cal.

Judging a conference based on how many teams it puts in the final four is like excusing a dog for pooping all over the carpet because he didn't chew up your furniture that week

He doesn't make $2 million at WSU; he makes less than what we were going to pay CM.

I really hope no one legitimately suggested Pastner as a replacement, because that might suck out what little life remains in my body

Calling the SEC good in basketball because of Final Four success would be like calling the NBA's Eastern Conference good in 2014 because the Pacers/Heat series was great.

Think they gave him a raise this season to 1.6.
An offer of 2+ might interest him.

It might be a strong statement but I think it is true. I'm just laughing at all these posts about how we could Smart, Wright, etc...Why on earth would these people want to leave their programs that they have built up? And not to mention come here at a pay cut and have to deal with ignorant fans? Let me know when the ticket to fantasy land is available.

That is a mighty strong statement

Rob Lewis said UT would need to be prepared to go to around 2.7 to get him. I don't think it would take near that. What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't think it would take that much, but many Lewis has had conversations with someone in Marshall's corner so who knows.

Wichita fans know they cannot keep their coach if money comes calling from a major school in a top BCS conference. Their chatter is wishful rhetoric though I do not blame them for hopping (against hope).

Cuonzo was given plenty of time to produce before the fan base turned on him. He saw the writing on the wall and realized next year would be a struggle and he got out while the getting was good.
