Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Gotta say, OK looks good other than special teams. Their RBs havent done much either but this QB is a gunslinger and a good athlete. They got the ball back with 6:45 on the clock and ran off a 13 play 70 something yard drive to give UM the ball back with 1:40 and down by 11 points as long as this kid can make this xtra point FG.

Love UM getting whipped on both LOS and their alleged $6M a year QB looking like trash on national TV

I started paying $8 month for commercial free youtube, and can hardly watch regular tv anymore. Jusy commercial aftercommercial..awful.

Other than live sports we dont really watch network TV at all for the same reason. Pay channels, streaming and youtube because theyre commercisl free.
Told my daughter how spoiled that is vs when I was a kid...only had a few channels and us kids were the remote.

alright, for some Monday morning pessimism. I think Georgia hits on the cover.

I think Joey is due for 2 pics. his accuracy is not ideal, we have just out athleted the two teams we have played so far. Against Georgia quality DBs our WRs won't be able to play defense as much, and we won't have the ball bounce into Matthews hands for a 50 yard TD.

Our OL has been good so far, and Georgia usually don't generate a ton of sacks, but they still control the line pretty well.

I think we have a chance to make some plays, but I don't think its enough to win it.

defense should hold up pretty good, just worried about getting pushed around with interior depth on the DL.

The only 2 reasons I am worried rather than confident are

1. We will be missing BOTH starting corners and UGA got the best portal WRs in the offseason in addition to their crazy classes they sign every year

2. We are likely missing both starting DTACKLES and 3 out of our best 4 at the position. They have run run run in their first 2 games and will do on us as long as they can.

I think our offense is gonna be alright and probably put up 24 to 31 points. UGA defense isnt as good as years past and we added a LOT of new formations and plays this offseason. CJH brought in Landry and another very experienced offensive coach this offseason to overhaul his offense. Looks like a brilliant move so far anyway.

**also the UGA reporter guesting on VQ talked about #10 for the pups. A 6ft7.5in tall 245lb freshman TE/WR. Apparently he scored a TD in their 1st game and hasnt been used much since. Kirbys ugly arse probably saving him to kill us over the middle this weekend. Hope not. This is best chance CJH has had to beat UGA though. Sucks with all the injuries on defense. Hopefully he can somehow pull it off anyway

I am hopeful McCoy is back, he will definitely need some adjustment to get back up to speed. but I think with Gibson out, its pretty needed.

I haven't heard what the DT injuries are, or how long they are supposed to be out, but again I was hopeful we were just protecting guys by not playing them, and they would be available against UGA. even if they don't get tons of snaps, our depth will be tested against UGA.

That's not good.

Yeah sounds like that TE Pitts that played for Flarda a few years ago and was unstoppable. Also Gronk for the cheating arse patriots. Too big and tall to be covered by a LB or DB. Hopefully hes dumb and cant remember the playbook enough to be a factor or something. He is a freshman...but when an UGA beat reporter makes a point to call out a guys number and measurables a week before the game thats usually not a good thing. He did say that their passing game has not clicked yet this season and he expects Gunner to have to carry the ball a lot for them to win...

not sure why anybody would do this, but it is mesmerizing

I actually watched that a week or two ago. pretty interesting. its crazy how that stuff works. I am curious if it does work, and how you even maintain that as obviously no battery could ever run it.

at that scale you have to think friction plays a major role. not just the gear reduction. you "spread out" the same amount of force over larger and larger areas the friction is going to play more of a part. whatever engine that has may not have the horsepower to turn all those gears.

add in flaws with assembly or 3D printing those pieces, and there is a ton that could go wrong.

pointless but cool to think about.

Good point on friction and slippage..you gotta think the owl is turning if not though.just infinately unobservable. I think if the friction was greater than the motor kw output, it would stall or overamp the motor..idk.

thats a fair point. I never got into the "moving things" part of physics.

my job relies on keeping things where I want them.

my job in pumps and compressors actually required it. you actually have loses in any type of drive, so maybe what I said doesnt make any sense either..lol

Yeah thats cool. "When that owl has turned all the way around, my wife still will not have admitted she was wrong." That man is married. For now anyway.

I think the commenter that answered this is correct

"The teeth on the first few gears will have worn down completely smooth before they could ever move the entire set of gears enough that the last 2 gears were even making solid contact under enough torque that the teeth could act on eachother. "

Basically it will never even takeup the slack that exists between all the gears. Its crazy how big those numbers are. Enjoyed the comments too

** I watched a good NOVA documentary last night about Quantum Science. Bet you would enjoy it. NOVA is he best Science show from PBS. They make good videos and are on youtube
