Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

My 2 cents on the game after being there.

Aguilera is a gamer, but in accurate. There were a couple passes he made that Georgia is going to feast on.
RBs look dang good. Thomas definitely looked the best. But not worried about the other two top guys.
WRs, hard to tell live, but it seemed like everyone had good plays and bad. Hands are a problem.
TE, it's Kitsleman or nothing apparently here.
OL looked good. No sacks, good rushing. Give up some pressures but nothing too bad.

Dline on its own looked weak. Got pushed off the line, again georgia will feast. I know there were some injuries but this was an ACC team. We had some good plays, but pass rush was lacking.
LBs looked pretty good.
DBs, outside of Boo, looked good. They were able to hold up for a while, but we need a pass rush to help them out. Can't be expected to cover for 5 seconds.

Offense looked better than I thought, defense worse. Definitely missed Pearce. Stadium was maybe half full, pretty much all Vols. One of the Syracuse fans noted we had more fans cheering for POTS than they did for their team.

D line is not a worry of mine. As long as RG is the line coach, we will be good enough (at minimum).

Miami is beating raggedy azz ND 21 to 7!!!

Hahahahahahahahahaha

ND is ALWAYS overrated. They are 6th this week. They play aTm next week then 10 unranked opponents in a row. The amazing thing is that they actually scheduled 2 ranked teams. They never do
Hate their stinking guts. Hope aTm takes them to the shed next week too...they are the "trendy" team right now even in addition to having Catholic fans and sportswriters slobbering over them like every other season.

We played so many backups and freshmen on defense yesterday its impossible to know how good we are on defense. Etsu will be the same. We will find out in the UGA game but I think we have a top 20 defense after all is said and done this year. We have a LOT of talent on this roster. CJH and staff are really playing these kids early this season and its gonna pay off. Especially when they DON'T leave in the portal IMO.

That's more like three fiddy and I read 2 cents and I agree.

Had a good time and great seats, TN was well represented in Atlanta as usual. I even got to witness a phone snatch and run at the Quick Trip convenience mart, happened in the blink of an eye, felt sorry the guy as he didn’t have a prayer of catching the culprit even though he gave a small chase. I thought we looked pretty good in some aspects at times and mediocre in other aspects at times. All in all it’s a win to start the season while traveling outside the confines of Neyland and that’s a good thing going forward especially for the younger guys. GO VOLS!!!

Just found this guy. Hes a former QB at UNC and analyst with NFL experience. Really good at Xs and Os . Breaks down new plays, good plays, and new wrinkles from the game.

Takeaways:

CJH bringing in 2 new offensive coaches in Landry Jones and ?? Is paying off. We have new formations, new plays, new blocking schemes etc. All in game 1.

LTackle Heard was a BEAST. points him out 3 different times in video just mauling somebody. Hes healthy now. Dominant.

Same for Kitselman but we knew that. Just destroys LBs and linemen. Not to mention his 2 HUGE catches inside the 10yd line. 1 of which was last TD.

Praises Swaguilar repeatedly. On time, great passes, great progressions.

Star Thomas balled out. If the rest of the season is like this game, its gonna be Bishop/Thomas as RB1 RB2.

Praises Bishop blocking. He is a beast blocking. That alone will get him the most snaps as RB1 under CJH. He runs fearlessly too and always gets plus2 after contact. Not as fast as Star/Lewis tho

I have watched this whole video and Brooks video that i linked in here yesterday. They are different in their approaches. Glad to have both this week.

247 sports now has our recruiting class ranked #3 in the nation. We flipped 4* Edge Hezi Harris from Barn today.

In addition to the top 5 players listed in this photo...ALL of WHICH are 5* rated on at least 1 service, we also have OTackle Shabazz who is a 5* on 1 service. So we have 6 players that are ranked 5* somewhere. This class is crazy man.

Edit: after the recent 0N3/rivals merger apparently Shabazz is no longer a 5*. Wyatt was also a 5* but was later downgraded to a 4*. Imagine that? Whats really stupid is Rivals doesnt rate ANY of our committments 5*. None. Not the #1 QB, not the #1WR, not the #1ATH. Nobody. What a damn joke.

Still not going to draw too many conclusions from yesterday.

UTC got more QB pressure in G1 last year than Cuse did yesterday....

But is our line better this year? I thought we got better, but I don't follow offseason that closely. It sure looked good to me on Saturday. Our line last year killed so many drives in all the ways that you can kill a drive. One of the worst teams we've ever had in that regard.

They looked better. We will see in 11 days...
