Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

@hog88 now that I’m wrenching on my truck and the extended warranty has expired I’ve been motivated to find quality aftermarket parts as many accessory OEM items are discontinued. I also found a company that does great work on painted steel bumpers. Bumper Man, they do national franchises. I can still get the important stuff from Ford like computers and what not, but on mine the key fragile items are the damn power accessories. Mainly the power folding mirrors. I know you have them too. Rock Auto and 1AAuto seems to have been able to source what I’ve needed thus far (new headlamp lenses, power folding mirrors, back up camera, etc..) and I’ve been able to cross by OEM part number too. I found a company that sources the leather dye and I’ve refreshed my seats also. After 13 years no tears but some wear and fading now fixed. I even updated the Ford Sync nav system software and bought new maps (final update was from 2019 for my truck but good enough).

So I’ve got a 13 year old Super Duty with only 88k miles on it that still looks great, drives great, and everything on it still works. Since it’s a Super Duty it will likely outlive me based on my driving at least from a driveline perspective. So as long as I can find quality aftermarket parts I’m probably never gonna buy another truck.

I change my daily driver out every 2-3 years, hand it down to the fleet and get me another one. I ain't wrenchen.

My personal truck 2015 GMC 3500 still only has about 40k miles on it so it's good for at least another 10 years.

Hey if you can depreciate the purchase and write it off buy a new one wherever you want man! It’s good to be the king!

I have very few contacts in NC. I have a ton in TN and OH. Do you have a GC license and bonded or were you operating under their license?

This may be a great time to break off onto your own if not. I can put you in contact with alot of jobs you could bid on.

No I don't currently have a GC license in NC. It costs money to maintain and I havent had the need. I can get one if needed though, If I have to go that route. I actually took a couple classes at CPCC long ago in preparation. I took Residential blueprint reading and estimating, and Contractors Exam review. It helped me a lot earlier in my career. My boss and FIL both have/had their GC but my FIL died during Covid sadly.

If you don't mind discussing possible contracts/work I will be happy to post my email here so we can get in touch directly. If you think its unlikely to work out for some reason and don't want to, then that's 100% OK too bud and thanks for inquiring initially. Several guys from the PF already have my contact info as well if you're in touch with others here.

Yeah you got IFS now. Night and day compared to my log wagon.

I was dead set on a bronco until I test drove the new F150 tremor. Wow. The pano roof is huge and with the back window opening I get little buffeting at high speeds. The 402A package basically makes it a cooler lariat.

I’m gonna get the 2026 once they come out in white with the 5.0 and add a whipple stage 1.

Really excited.

For Ford at least the only actual difference between the 250 and 350 are rear axle spring rates and front/rear brake calipers.

At the 450 level things start getting more serious.

Can you order a 150 Tremor with tow mirrors or do you have to settle for those POS little ones?

Right now as far as new builds go I am in the mix on multiple restaurants and c stores and high rise condos. I do a lot of hab but most are already built so I don’t have GC contacts right now for hab but we have about 500 restaurants coming in within the next two years that I am working with ground up and all are same owner. I could get u in contact with that GC and see if he needs help.

Are u drywall? Flooring? Concrete? What’s ur specialty?

GC under 25k is much easier to get licensed in TN than over 25k so small remodels might be an option for u too. Just brain storming.

Those Coyote 5.0s are the best mass produced engine Ford has built...maybe ever. Can take massive boost too without changing out internals ($$$)

1 of THE absolute fastest thing on the street right now is stripped down 4WD F150 shortbeds with Whipple or turbos. 0-60 times supercar fast. Low 3sec etc. Barely even chirp tires from a dead stop when they take off lol. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Ford found out that people were buying the stripped down worktruck type models and boosting them. Jacked up the price by like $5000, but you can now buy a sleeper truck already boosted and under warranty as long as the dealer does the install etc. There are some crazy videos out there about these trucks.
