Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

He lasted longer than we all thought. His Keith Richards antibodies finally wore off.

My favorite Ozzie story is about whe he quit taking acid. He said he dropped it one day, went out into a field, and had a one hour conversation with a horse. Said he decided to give the acid up when at the end of the conversation the horse looked at him and told him to F-off

So...I am getting laid off fellas. Looks like theyre gonna close the doors probably for good. Got a decent severance package though and my boss is gonna sell me one of the vans or trucks. He also spoke with our main lumber providers owner beforehand and has at least 1 lead for me for a Superintendent job for a smaller builder. Still trying to digest this and formulate a plan...i just got home from his house. Ive got plans with my daughter tonight too. So I have to be in ship shape in about 4 hours so that she has no idea. This situation isnt hers to worry about or even know about until I land another job if I can help it. Appreciate yall. Might not be back on today/night but I am OK and thankful for you guys.
Wish you the best man. Pulling for you.

Sorry marcus.

sounds like they tried to do right by you and didn't stick you completely out on your own.

Yessir. He called me tonight to check on me. This was really hard on him. We have been really tight since sophomore year of HS in 1992. Really good guy. I would gladly give him a kidney or lung anyday, thats not gonna change. Just gonna be a transition period for me that i havent encountered in about 17 years. Still trying to figure out the best path forward from here. I would never have willingly left his company, I have been offered more money etc when work was booming and never even considered leaving. It will all worl out one way or another.

Thanks for your well wishes, prayers etc guys. Really appreciate yall.

It's getting spicy up in therr fo sho

I will beat the lunch money out of Tonys ugly fat head for messing with our McDude. He better tighten up. I am headed to Knoxvegas soon.

Totally unrelated news: my youngest and prettiest son (my daughter) told me tonight that she wants to go to a home game this year. I will make that happen, even if I have to knock over a liquor store to pay for it.

Yall might want to check out this AP interview. I learned a couple little things from it, and I listen to all the VQ youtube videos every tues and thurs mornings. Example: Kitselman said that Nico had already gone missing for a couple days several times BEFORE the incident at the spring game. Team leadership was tired of it and pissed...including Kitselman. Also...Pearce went missing last summer some like Boo is rumored to have done recently. Leadership was pissed and is now allegedly. There is no mention of Boo in this video though. I heard that from Boogie Bentley.

I was thinking the Frontier instead of the full size. I like the Dakota since it is slightly smaller than the full size, but you can still haul mostly everything you need. The Frontier is around the same size and is about the only "mid sized" truck to be found these days (except that new Ranger, which, again, I'm not paying what Ford wants for it)

The only difference is the Dakota has that small V8 while the Frontier doesn't go above a V6. Mine is pretty sick after not running for 7 years, but it'll get to and from in the local area. Haven't priced repairs on it, but I'm assuming the fix for the Dodge Lightning Bolt of Death isn't going to be cheap... and replacing the thermostat, new tires, new ignition and key system, hood latch replacement... among other things.

But I do love the Dakota

Hate to hear this marcus. You are a really good person by all accounts and wishing you the best during this transition period. I'll be praying for you and know the Lord has something in store for you. Hang in there, everything will work out.

My Dad and Pappaw both recently had Frontiers before they died. Both were great trucks. They still offer a manual transmission too...Tacomas dont nor do Dakotas IIRC. My daughters Xterra is built on the same frame etc as the Frontier. Shares the 4.0 V6, 4wd, transmission, and exhaust. I recently had to do a pretty good amount of work to it...but thats at 160,000 miles and all came from a $10 PCV valve getting clogged and fouling plugs when the crankcase was no longer recycling the unburnt air/fuel/oil mixture back into the intake. If that $10 part had been replaced (easy 15min job) at say 100k miles when the manufacturer suggests it... i wouldnt have had to replace plugs, coil packs, and a catalytic converter due to the PCV being clogged. I didnt own the vehicle then, and didnt think to check and replace it as part of regular maintenance so thats mostly on me honestly. I would like to buy a Frontier for my next vehicle. Will probably be used. You can get a nice new one for low to mid $30k around here. Cheaper than Tacomas and arguably more reliable for the new models (see youtube videos) Old Tacomas are bulletproof. The new ones not so much though

My thing with Basillio is idgaf if he's right or wrong

he's a rat **** airing locker room **** in public and thats not good for the team

if theres some Sandusky **** going on, yes, we need media guys in place ready to bring that out in the sunshine

what the program dont need is a bunch of rats turning fanbases against players, driving wedges between players, causing more drama

Still a bunch of nothing in the Boo thread. Thats hilarious that Basilio created an account to come defend/stroke himself in that thread. What a maroon. Good job McDad for calling him out. CJH runs a clean program unlike some coaches we have had in the past. Minor issues like a player missing practice or a meeting are in house stuff that IMO should never see the light of day. I prefer the Hubbs/AP/Cain etc approach to actually vetting information before making it public...while keeping the best interests of the team and staff always in mind. Which is why those guys actually DO have access to the coaches, players, nearly every recruit etc. At the end of the day its about professionalism and class. Tony apparently lacks both.

@BelievetheHeup2022

You are one of us bud. Should kick around the politics forum more. Good guys in here, and this is our "watercooler" thread where we discuss anything and everything except politics. Pretty sure I have seen you post in here before...or maybe in a thread that got moved here? That happens too. Either way, you are welcome here
