Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

@hog88 and all other Nashville metro people…..

What in the holy hell is with the weather here now? It has rained more since May than I think in all summers since 1990 combined.

Every damn day.
I am the boro and the rain gage measured 5" on Friday night and another inch on Saturday.... but that is all so far for July IIRC. I live next to the Stones and it was pretty low before the rain. June and May were wet tho (especially on the night of the AC/DC show)

Here on the lake we haven’t went 2 days without rain.

I am in Charlotte and have worked outside for 32 years straight. This is the wettest may and june that I can remember ever. Maybe not in rain accumulation...I havent bothered to look anything up. In actual number of days which rain fell...I don’t ever remember this much for those 2 months. We had pop up thunderstorms almost every evening in May it seemed. June wasnt much better. Crazy. This is also the hottest summer here in probably 5 years. Heat index over 100 degrees again today...

Well see, its all got to do with thermodynamics and conductive heating......

Yeah, I agree it's been unusually hot and wet this summer. Spring seemed colder and wetter than normal.

My boss told me I don't need to come to his house tonight. I am working with him tomorrow. Things are grim though fellas honestly. We just dont have any new projects starting soon. Been working at my boss houses mostly for the last couple months. I appreciate the prayers and vibes though from yall. Probably gonna have to make a change soon and I really, really don't want to. Sorry for whining. Nobody wants to hear that . Thanks guys

Hang in there Marcus, I am seeing a lot of construction jobs in TN if you are interested in moving?

Hey buddy. Definitely pulling for you.

You've mentioned your big boss is a multi millionaire and a friend of yours.
Will he bankroll you to start your own reno business? Yall could find homes in need of renovation and fix them up to rent or sell. You've got a good head on your shoulders. All you need is a start.

Almost certainly will be going out of town/state if I can land a job doing the same thing for someone else. Have had a couple job offers but they were years ago...and I never even considered them then. Thanks man for caring

Maybe. He definitely has the money, but hes been wanting to retire for a couple years now (he will also be 48 in sept) so I know he wont be interested in anything unless its hands off investment style. He has a nice beach house on Oak Island and wants to be there. Hopefully that's an option. Thanks bud for thinking about me.

It's perfect. He invests the money. You do the work. You buy out his capital plus fees / interest at refi or give him his cut at sale. He makes more than any other investment vehicle. You build something all your own for a change.

My dad didn't really build his own until he almost didn't have anything left. The trades beat your body to death. By the time you're in 60s the damage is done and you can't earn like you used to. Hated seeing that for him or and anyone else.

Yep my 1st back surgery was pretty minor but the 2nd one was fusing the first 3 discs above my tailbone with rods and screws. I can and do still build with my toolbags...couple days or even a week at a time. I dont think I have it in me to build 51 or 52 weeks a year anymore though. I might have to though. Might not have a choice. The only way I could earn enough money that way is working for myself though. I need to gross $100k a year to not be moving backwards (much) even without insurance and a company gas/credit card...if I can just land another job making 100k a year then we will be OK. Anyway, gonna get off here for tonight and try to get some sleep guys. Thank you for everything. I really appreciate yall.
