I learned today that in the UK, you have to get a manual transmission license to be able to drive a stick car. They have separate license for folks who only want to take the automatic driving test and be licensed only for automatics. Wow.
They are far different than the US when it comes to motorcycles. They have to get a license for bikes limited to 4o or 50hp first...then after a set period of time they can take the test to get a regular license to drive any bike with real Hp like in the US. Kinda like we do with learners permits before drivers licenses. Thought that was interesting. My daughter didnt even have to parallel park an automatic to get her license. She is still in the early license period where she cannot drive after 9pm at night here in NC. She can get her unrestricted license when she turns 17 this month.
NC didn't have that ridiculous "early license period" law back in the stone age when I was in high school. That sounds WAY more like a curfew for teenagers than anything actually designed for driver safety.I learned today that in the UK, you have to get a manual transmission license to be able to drive a stick car. Can you imagine John Eddie out on the autobahn in his ‘78 Chrysler Cordoba cruising in the left lane? This is one of the reasons we don’t have oneEurope as a whole has a much more rigorous process when it comes to getting vehicle licenses.
It's why they get to have nice things like the autobahn. Their typicsl drivers are much better.
A taxi driver has to go through a long process there as well.

I was in high school and college in NC in the late 80’s/early 90’s. The driver’s license program I had in NC was the same as yours.Nope. I turned 16 in NC in 1993 and got my full license. Did have to take a drivers ed class as an elective at school beforehand though to make that happen. D.E. class was relatively new. My daughter had to take class, get learners permit at 15.5yo to only drive with parents, restricted license at 16, then full license at 17 soon. Pain in the azz. I taught her to drive in my Civic coupe with manual transmission. She does well.

Let’s go ahead and serve this up now
Man the fog rolling in last evening after an afternoon rain shower was beautiful.
Aren’t you in Lebanon or Shelbyville? Just to be safe I shot a bird at both as I passed the exits.
