No family member willing to work that hard to keep the farm going?
my grandfather got out of beef cattle after one kinda kicked/bumped him and broke his hip. he admitted he thought he was going to be able to dodge it, but just wasn't as fast as he wanted to be.No, my youngest brother has been wanting to get out for awhile now. I always thought he would wait until Dad passed but reliable help is almost impossible to find with an operation that small (average about 120 head milking) and Dad will be 79 this year so he can't and shouldn't be working it every day. He had a tractor catch fire about a month ago and barely was able to get off of it before it was fully engulfed and I think that changed his thinking.

its a mindset for sure. I think you have to find something that gets you out of bed.My granddad died a couple years after he stopped working the farm and I've always thought my dad thinks he'll go quickly if he does and that's why he's been so adamant about keeping it going.

Don’t you just love this kind of thing? I had a headlight go out on an MDX once and had to take the whole front fascia off and pull the battery to replace it.I might try this honestly. Have had to do it before. Maybe I can heat those flanges up with a can torch and get them to expand, then thread it out with a flathead. Will have to be really careful with the flame, since i am working under there. Had to remove the front passenger wheel and liner (and a heatshield) just to be able to get a ratcheting socket to the bolts. The nuts are on the firewall/engine side where you cant get a socket over them...when they could have absolutely been the other way around so that you could get to them. Terrible engineering. Everything i have done on this v3hicle has been harder than it ever should be due to dumb crap like that. Nissan must get the engineers that Honda and Toyota fire or something. Good grief. Wonder why theyre nearly bankrupt and wanting a merger?
We will be chunking bunkerOh, cheap shot! I'll be 79 in a couple of months and feeling it today. I hope cattle with four legs to stand on are easier to deal with than an addled wife; but you are right, your dad needs to have time for himself and relax.
BTW when Slice was talking about taking you fishing a few days ago, I almost asked if you were to be the bait.
Speaking of relaxing ... how's the new house going?
you shoulda mooned it ... wayne would not be impressed with just the fingerI was in Atlanta last week at the World Congress Center for a volleyball tournament. While waiting to cross the street a self driving car with a huge camera on top stopped at the light. Instinctively, I gave the finger.
My wife asked what I was doing and I told her I think that’s the Google Maps car.
it may not have been, it was a plain white Tesla with no logos. Do any of you know anything about a car like this driving around in Atlanta? I ask because I saw it in another part of town the next day and gave it the finger once again.
I want to be like Slice
