Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Yep
One of my best friends as well. They know what they can get away with too because most dads are less strict than moms typically are. I raised my daughter to patriciate in athletics just like I did in my childhood and teenage years. It has been a blast.
You almost had me trying to look up the word "patriciate".

So, after 42 years on earth, I finally got my first child. Things were touch and go for awhile. But to all of y'alls detriment, there is now a baby Joe. She is the most beautiful thing in the world. And I will raise her as a Tennessee fan. Pictures to come once the Filipino hospital allows lol
Congrats bro…. Little girls love their daddy. I’ve got four of ‘em.

Totally agree with this. I have always been a morning person so it never bothered me that much when my daughter woke us up back in her infant days. She is 15 now and full of sarcasm.

Awesome! I too have a 15yo daughter, and she is my favorite living human by far. She is hilarious and we have fun. I am a super light sleeper so i got up and fed/changed her when she was tiny. Never minded a bit...time I didnt have to share her with Mom or family. Loves me more than anyone.

Truth. From about 14-18/19 the wife and daughter fought like cats and dogs, now they are like best friends.

Fortunately mine is smart enough to still be scared of her Mom who is psychotic. They dont argue...at least not yet. I can tell she cant wait to go live on campus in a couple years though at Liberty and get away from the Dictatorship. I completely understand lol.

Liberty is pretty draconian too.

Yeah my son already graduated from there. Working on his masters online. We are cool with my daughter not living in coed dorms and spending a couple years majoring in Beer drinking with a minor in Bong management lol. Thankfully its where she wants to go, not where we are making her . She is doing dual enrollment right now with HS/ undergrad so will only be on campus for 2 years. Its really nice up there honestly, and much bigger than i thought it would be. Pretty big school. My son came back in good shape....hoping and praying she does too.

It’s a beautiful campus. Being from VA I had some HS friends go to Liberty, it’s had to have loosened up some since the late 80s. I know it’s doubled or tripled in size since then.

Yeah it has. They still dont have coed dorms or anything like that though. Nor allow any drugs and alcohol on campus. I am not stupid man...if thats something teenagers want to do, all that can easily take place in a car right off campus etc. They just make it inconvenient I guess. Hopefully she keeps making good decisions like she has been. She wants to be a school teacher at a Christian school after she graduates. That part of VA up in the mountains is beautiful.

My aunt went to Emmanuel in GA (which makes Liberty look like a den of inequity)and went on to teach at various parochial schools and faith based orphanages. She‘s never made any money but I think she’s enjoyed her career.

Wife was driving to the airport tonight. I get a call from her saying she hit something on the interstate and is on the side of the road. I drive to her and send her on her way in my car. Get the car towed to a shop. Have had it less then six months. So the repair guy tells me knocked off left rear underbody shield Significant wire damage. I ask what his estimate is. He says $800-$12,000. Hell of a range

If he comes back with an estimate in the thousands get another estimate...unless you have full coverage/comprehensive and arent worried about it because its the insurance companies problem. Mechanics have gotten ridiculous these days with shops charging $150 to $200 an hour in labor and dealerships likely even more. There are still some shops out there with somewhat decent rates though. Also, if you do have to pay out of pocket let the shop know that and haggle on the price. I have done this and saved 30% repeatedly. Thats a big chunk when replacing an engine or transmission ....which i have had both done on work vans. I did that to save my boss/buddy money.

Coach Hype hit homeruns with both hires IMO. Better than I expected. LB coach was headed to Bama because he was co defensive coordinator at Washington. He is the important hire. Any decent HS ball coach could coach RBs...recruiting is what matters there and dude has good Carolina connections. His RBs averaged about 217 yards per game rushing last season as well...same as here pretty much. Very happy with both hires.
