Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I live 10 minutes from the office. My commute is about as easy as it can get. And oddly enough I enjoy teaching my trade to the younger engineers. As long as the little ***** listen and aren’t dumbasses anyway.

Throw in a little CRT with your training. And wear a tight skirt.

Where is that gif..best ever.

What would you do if you moved to East Tennessee?
That came up in discussion recently. I’ve lived in a large metropolitan area for too long if I ever moved back to TN it would probably have to be Nashville area. I still love East TN I just am not sure I want to live there anymore.

Oh and the first thing I’d buy is Vols season tickets.

So you're a liberal? Holy crap, where do you live in Texas?

She in fact told me I better find a damn reason to get out of the house a couple of days a week. Might as well get paid for it if they agree to my terms 🤷‍♂️

Both of us have traveled for work our whole marriage, we probably haven’t spent an entire month together at one stretch over our whole marriage. I’m afraid if we retire she’ll figure out she doesn’t like me.

Yep. We go from spending little time at all together on 5 days a week to staring at each other 24/7. Time to add a bit of separation back and ease back into this.

I remember in 1996 I arrive in Tyler for my new position and staying at the Holiday Inn..and the discussions of the real UT with some Texans I assume and somehow went to Aikman was gay

Congrats to you. In this market it seems amazing to find five people in one day to say yes.

Knowing that cancer is in me is kinda freaking me out..and I had skin cancer on my arm years ago.
Not harping on it every minute but still waiting to hear for when I have the MOHS surgery. I was told Monday and called yesterday that it could take 2 weeks to have the appointment set.

Three things that are working on our favor...

1. There aren't any major wildfires at the moment.

2. Most wildland firefighters are seasonal and call when needed. Hence, no work to be had.

3. My company is one of the only wildland outfits that offers full time employment with benefits.

Wildland fire is one of the last "labor intensive" industries where most manpower is nothing more than a number. Since we work for insurance companies, we're able to offer far better options than our competitors. Even the others in the insurance industry.

This is why they sell bass boats and hunting trips far away from home.

Ohh Lordy..AM64 makes an appearance. F-35 incoming lol

The reason F-35s are invisible in the air is because they are on the ground resting and being refurbished after the last flight. The cost per hour in the air is high, but there aren't many hours in the air, so most of the cost is while they are sitting on the ground. The good news is they will last a long time because they aren't pulling that many g's while grounded. :p

By the time I retired, I was a sourpuss over the management that had no clue what they were doing, but relied on people that had been there 30+ years to keep the place running. Now that all of us old idiots are gone, they are struggling with days of downtime instead of hours. They got what they asked for.

People still have some lingering respect for corporate leaders because we saw an era where they were the guys who built the company or closely tied to the origins. Times changed and the new hired guns are just slick talking guys and gals in it for themselves and what they can get out of the deal; they aren't builders and they definitely aren't stewards. Example, GE's Jack Welch. These are the guys who plunder companies by making the stock exchange happy and fill their pockets with nice returns on short term profits. They don't care about the future of the company - just what they can milk it for in the sort term.

Well that was surprisingly quick. My buddy who also will be my sponsor (I picked him from the list of those available😬) has just informed me that my paperwork was amazingly quickly approved by HRVP.

Oh my God what have I done. These bastards are desperate 😳

Satan has your signature on paper. He owns you ... again
