Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I stopped watching back around 1985 or so. Eddie Murphy was the only one on that I'd barely watched anymore.
The Blues Brothers movie was the best thing that came out of that w/that cast of characters.

I stopped watching SNL 89-90 somewhere around there.

My wife would watch the show well into the 90s and would tell me that those on there were pretty funny.
I was so addicted to the old cast I just didn't care for what was there ..... I've snubbed them all this time.

I can't recall ever really watching SNL; saw it some with my son, but it didn't impress me whenever that was. The last TV comedy shows I thought were good were Laugh In and the Smothers Brothers.

I have the SEC Network down here for the game Sat. By the way, the N.C. house is nowhere near Biltmore, either in size or location.

There's good news and bad news about that. The good news is the QB will probably be all Bailey and Shrout. The semi good news is that Cimaglia is taking the rest of the year off, so maybe having him on the sidelines won't open up a false sense of expectations about our kicking game. The semi bad news is that Vandy is going to be using their soccer girl - hopefully we don't make her look great like we historically do opponents' one off QBs. The bad news is that Marvin West thinks it's very likely the game is cancelled - not that it's a sure thing, but it would be nice to win another game this year.

Some of the SNL people were really good. Bill Murray was one of the best to my way of thinking. I always liked the sarcastic side of comedy - the kind of stuff that Don Rickles could pull; the weird part is that a lot of other comedians can't make that work.

They could never do or get away with doing that "word association" skit above ever again..... just like "blazing saddles" ..... we all can't just sit back and laugh at but true funny stuff anymore bc of the way things have gotten.
If you haven't seen it you better look before a mod comes along & deletes it forever on here.

Dead honky. You're right, that wouldn't fly today, but at the same time humor is a way of bridging the gap between differences. I keep thinking back to Eric Holder's statement about not having the discussion - he was right but in the wrong way - it can't happen because of the society we've become. Liberals by attempting forced inclusivity, diversity, and ultra sensitivity have forced exclusivity.

Rickles live stand up was caustic as hell and hilarious

No wonder people are leaving California in droves. Not that I would want to, but you can't buy a Chevy Camaro there because it has too much copper in the brake pads. WTF?
