Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

We were up at least 13 in this one. 17 last time.

What really pisses me off is that unlike last year and most years under Barnes, we actually have 4 good big men. Four. Not counting our near 7ft tall freshman who scored 20 in the 1st half. So when we come out COLD AS A WITCHES TITS like we were after halftime starting 2-13 on FGs....WHY in the HELL dont we just take the ball to the rack every time down court??? We finally have the bodies to do that. You can easily average 1point per possession that way between point blank, high % shots and the fouls you can draw even when you miss. WHY can we not do that??? Last year and every year under Barnes we have these spells when we could not hit the broad side of a barn. This team shouldn't ever miss 10 shots in a row. Never. Yet we do. Take it to the damn hole.

I watched the 2nd half clock go under 10mins...halfway thru the half...amd we had 8 points in the 2nd half. On pace for 16 or less total. Theres no excuse for that on this team. None. We lead the nation In offensive rebounds too by the way. All the more reason to FORCE the ball inside. Yet we dont. There is no excuse for losing this game.

None. We outrebounded them 45 to 27.
And lost after leading by 13 points at the half.

Anyone listen to them talking about our DC this morning? Simon said his family wouldn't consider his son playing for Tim Banks but with JK, they are back in the conversation.

BOth spoke very negative about Banks and how soft the whole unit was under him. Said they had no identity and very predictable. Nothing earth shattering here, but I was a little surprised at the whole conversation.

^^^ interesting quote I kidnapped from the FF. Simon was a repeat Pro Bowl LB and definitely knows defense inside and out. Another poster said they had spoken to parents of a couple highly rated HS Safeties who said UT wasnt an option with Banks at the helm. Lack of talent at Safety has hamstrung this team in the CJH era. The best Safety we have had (by far) in college in the last 5 years was a walk-on for Pete's sake.

I freely admit that I was wrong about Banks. Stats improved every year under him and we put a decent amount of players in the NFL on defense every year. After the 24 team finished ranked top10 I thought Banks was solid. Apparently I was wrong and our defense only performed so well due to Garners DLines and having NFL talent at Corner. Look forward to having a defense that I cant tell at a glance what we are doing each snap...and leaving 10yd cushions on 3rd and 7. There will be growing pains in 2026 but I think we are setting ourselves up to make playoff runs in 27 and 28.
