We'll see where we end up, but we came into the season with the aforementioned investigation and impending sanctions hanging over our head, not to mention a new head coach and a turbulent recent history. Reality is that recruiting is a lot about relationships. This staff has had very little time to form those relationships. There's a good chance that this year will be a lot of looking to fill holes from the transfer portal as they build relationships for future classes. In the end, this class may very well not be great, but this class also won't determine Heupel's fate. That'll be more on future classes. So you can choose to be miserable about it, or you can live in the reality of the situation and accept this year for what it is. If he continues to struggle in recruiting next year, then I'll be concerned. This year, there's just a whole hell of a lot currently working against us. But hopefully recruits are seeing the same excitement and improvement on the field that most of us fans are, and hopefully that'll turn some heads by signing day.

I'm still amazed by people who want Mike Leach as a head coach, but start a coaching search and sure enough there are people drooling over the prospect of getting him. Maybe the comedy makes losing easier for traditional secondary and simply non college powers.

We have sucked for a decade plus. Fact.
Kentucky and South Carolina have put more players in the NFL than UT over the last three or four years. Fact.
These kids are too young to even remembered the last time we won the East. Fact.
History doesnt mean anything to current success. Fact.
We have only had two graduating classes that entered and left under the same head coach since 2008, 12 years. Fact.
We have NILs for cookies, while other schools have NILS for millions of dollars. Fact.

Plenty of facts saying why we are doing so bad. And besides it's not signing day yet.

Closing strong is not defined by a single path. We could have a "lackluster" recruiting ranking and do an amazing job with JUCOs and Portals and conceivably close stronger than if we had a highly ranked recruiting class of high school kids.

I think JUCOs are included in the rankings but yeah, he can still land a solid class. He has to.
