Didn't know there were facts in this thread.
Well, I've read it. Few things that stuck out.
- 1998 was the warmest year on record, thanks to the El Nino that took place that year. However, once the El Nino subsided and the global average temperature dropped in 1999-2000, the temperature trend continued to rise.
- The study cited by point #1 was interesting to read. The thing is though, most of the models that are used show that we're warmer than we have been in the past 2,000 years or so.
- Using a week in the weather world to ascertain whether a major global climactic change is taking place isn't very scientifically sound, which is what point #2 does.
- Sea ice coverage is up from 2012, but the ice level is still very low compared to the levels in the late 70's-early 80's.
- There are probably some scientists who do believe in global cooling, however, most scientists express a 95-100% confidence level that anthropogenic global warming is real and is happening.
- MIT's Richard Lindzen and Roger Pielke of Colorado are both noted skeptics of certain types of climate change. They both believe it is happening actually
In my opinion, there are only three valid points in this article. Those three, however, are enough to question the motives and/or rationale of anyone who subscribes to this global warming hysteria.
Point 1 (#1) - It's a fact that it's been MUCH hotter on planet Earth than it is today. Therefore, it's not unreasonable to assume that humans are not the sole cause - and certainly not anywhere close to a significant contributor to - increasing temperatures.
Point 2 (#6) - "Scientists" - and I use the term loosely when speaking of global warming - cannot accurately predict weather patterns. They cannot even identify all the variables nor assign the proper significance to the known variables. When their models fail to produce the dramatic catastrophes predicted, new variables are introduced with different significance on the final product.
Point 3 (#7) - "Extreme" weather is no more evidence of global warming than is a hot summer or cold winter. It's just another event to use as propaganda to drive the hysteria machine. And there is a lot of money at stake in this "science".
With that said, the three questions that come to my mind are:
1) Why does anyone continue to buy into the global warming / global cooling / global climate change hysteria? Even if it were true, there's not enough evidence or understanding of the matter to effect meaningful change.
2) If you're still convinced it's warming, how do you know it's a bad thing? What's the ideal temperature on Earth?
3) How can one continue to trust these "scientists" and "experts"? I cannot even read one of these articles without questioning the motives; integrity; and, most importantly, accuracy of their research.
Why not check the peer-reviewed literature. You'll see there are no trends in extreme weather. The science is being manipulated. I'll take a Harvard-trained MIT scientist over Al Gore (the guy who took one environmental science class while at Harvard and got a D) any day of the week.
Don't worry, though. The people who stand to make billions off this lie will continue to push the carbon myth -- and, sadly, toy with the emotions of people like you. Be sure to bundle up in the near future. We're about to go another mini ice age. Oooooooooooo... I'm shivering right now.
I'll own it.
Was hitting the bottle last night, Arkansas in laws are in. Have to be a little pasted to tolerate them.
Hey I get points for being tolerant now, right?
