Official Global Warming thread (merged)

My dad smashed atoms for a living. PHD level edumacation. His designs are used in every reactor in the world. He says the more we learn the more we realize we don't know that much. He worked in areas of science that are verifyable with facts. He says you climate guys are all full of shiz. You take evidence and twist it to fit your adgenda. Given what he and his friends have done and proven, I'm going to take their word for it.

So post me another chart showing the average temp from 10,000 years ago.

So a guy who smashes atoms for a living is supposed to know the ways of climate change? Believe it or not, just like there are doctors who specialize in a certain field and probably don't know **** about another field, there are scientists who specialize in certain fields.

I'm sure you're daddy is very smart. My daddy has a PhD+ level physics education and he thinks your daddy is a fool. So do the vast majority of educated people.

It's worth pointing out that Sandvol's guy Muller replicated the hockey stick. Even the popular skeptic/denialist blogger McIntyre got the same result. If you have something to say besides herpderp HOCKEYSTICK herpderp let's hear it

They tend to laugh at those who practice "junk science".
They are all smarter than me. I just build stuff and only have a masters from UT and it took me 9 years to get it.

I am smart enough to know bull shat when I see it though.

Yes, climate denialists are off their rockers. There are plenty of places around the internet where they can circlejerk in peace but VN will not be one of them. It’s my favorite board. I’m going to continue refuting the nonsense posted in this thread in case in case there are any truly ignorant (not willfully ignorant) people on the fence that may visit VN. This is one of if not the biggest challenges facing mankind. I’m not letting the morons poopoo all over this thread.

Hope you brought your month long lunch & supper because this thing you seem to think you know all about is crap & a left-wing loony bird agenda & you know it. All this global warming thing has done is brought more snow to parts of America than ever before.

What?
No, all their prodections have come true.

I should have been a weather man. Or even better a climate scientist.
If you get it right 10% of the time you're a god in the industry.

P.S. I identify with libertarians

I wonder how much they spend money to have climate scientist to cook the books or to say that fit the agenda for the left-wing loony birds?

Last I checked they couldn't agree how to date the age of ice samples.
One layer of thaw and refreeze is equall to a day, a week, a season, a year, 100 yrs, 1000 yrs depending on who you ask.

Anyone with a different opinion can't be trusted.

Your terms become unpopular, change them.

What a bunch of hacks.

I've never voted otherwise. Democrats don't know how to run an economy and republicans are just plain loony. The US's two party system is dumb.

I've voted all over the board.
The last couple of elections I've voted against the guy in office.
In my own way I'm voting for term limits.

:toast: I'll drink to that.

:toast:

The Netherlands (my home country) has a multi-party system. 10+ parties in office at any time and one never gains a majority. Overall it's a pretty socialist country (getting more conservative) but atleast they legislate effectively. The standard of living is one of the highest. US's congress is so dysfunctional it's not even funny

There's been some interesting work linking the Arab Spring to climate change.

“A once-in-a-century winter drought in China contributed to global wheat shortages and skyrocketing bread prices in Egypt, the world’s largest wheat importer.” (Sternberg, p. 7)

Of the world’s major wheat-importing companies per capita, “the top nine importers are all in the Middle East; seven had political protests resulting in civilian deaths in 2011.” (Sternberg, p. 12)

“The world is entering a period of ‘agflation,’ or inflation driven by rising prices for agricultural commodities.” ( Johnstone and Mazo, p. 21)

“Drought and desertification across much of the Sahel—northern Nigeria, for example, is losing 1,350 square miles a year to desertification—have undermined agricultural and pastoral livelihoods,” contributing to urbanization and massive flows of migrants. (Werz and Hoffman, p. 37)

“As the region’s population continues to climb, water availability per capita is projected to plummet. ... Rapid urban expansion across the Arab world increasingly risks overburdening existing infrastructure and outpacing local capacities to expand service.” (Michel and Yacoubian, p. 45)

“We have reached the point where a regional climate event can have a global extent.” (Sternberg, p. 10)
