Look, there is no problems favoring one industry over another. The government has been doing it for years. But as a minimum, before someone goes running out with a checkbook, they really do need to slow down and do a bit of research before throwing billions at an company like Solyndra. Here's the problems as I see them...
The environmental crowd needs to understand, as a whole, that it will take decades to ween our economy off fossil fuels. What has been built in decades will not be dismantled and replaced in a few years. And that's everything from your gas lawn mover to coal fired power plants.
The environmental crowd needs to understand the EPA can (and is) causing more harm than good by amassing power it shouldn't rightfully have. I like Tweety Bird and Bugs Bunny and all, but they have no right to come onto my private property and declare it wetlands or any other nonsense. Unless they are paying the bills and taxes on said property, they don't have that right and can bite my butt. And the environmental crowd alienates those very same people by cheering on the EPA when they do.
The environmental crowd needs to stop looking for problems in each and every alternative energy source. I've listed them time and time again and the "problems" that arise not long after they go into mainstream use. You want us off fossil fuel sources for power? Stop whining about migratory birds getting smacked around by the wind turbines you wanted in the first place.
The environmental crowd also needs to understand that until alternate energy engines come down in price, people will continue buying gas vehicles and motors. I applaud Elon Musk for breaking the mold on electric vehicles, but they still are a novelty and still too expensive for most Americans. And until they are priced comparably with gas vehicles, they are spinning their wheels. (both figuratively and literally) People don't care about tax credits, they care about the figure following the "$" symbol on the sticker in the window.
There's just a few things off the top of my head with my first cup of coffee that needs to be cleaned up in the environmental movement before many will take them seriously.
