Official Game Thread - Tennessee vs Montana: 6 pm EDT

Let me clarify...thought the Montana coach fly by was classless

I knew what you meant. He shouldn't be upset about us going for it with reserve players in the game. It'd be different if it were Bray throwing to Hunter on 4th down late in the game, but when you put the 2nd string out there you gotta let 'em run the offense just like you're fighting to keep a lead. Otherwise why not just punt on 1st down?

I would like to see a Wilcox D with Chavis players. Even when Chavis was here our defense was loaded right up until the end. Art Evans would never see the field on any other sec team.

I think chavis just knows how to coach and recruit the sec better because Wilcox did pretty good at Boise St. When they had there one hard game a year vs a PAC-10 or big 12 team

How is that classless? Rather us kick a field goal? It's football he better get used to it. He's lucky we stayed vanilla and didn't let Hunter and Da'Rick do anymore damage the second half.

Sorry but Chavis has never recruited a player in his life.

Yep. Any respect I might have had for Montana went out the window with that move.

I'll be cheering for anyone who plays Montana from this day forward.

And I really...really, enjoyed the last one.

Go Vols.

This is true. That second half was pretty much short passes and trying to get the run game going.

I thought it was classless to pull the "Bill Bellichik" fly by on the post game handshake. Tell Dooley good game or good luck. Maybe they flew commercial and are in a hurry to catch the connection in Atlanta or something. He kind of just breezed by and left Dooley standing there sort of like hunter left the defensive backs.

No, we will go 1-11. Seriously guys? Don't get your panties in a wad. Auburn sucked, Kentucky sucked, Ole Miss sucked, Georgia isn't look great atm, USC Jr had a slow start, I'm sure Vandy is still Vandy... the only very good outings are from LSU and Alabama, which is not at all surprising. Florida did alright. Mississippi State played Tiger High and did as expected. We did as expected, too.

Lots of room for improvement, especially with run blocking and holding a football. But on the positive side, Marlin Lane looks like a stud and Bray had some pretty good throws. Take the win; we could be Oregon State right now. It's not like our game was ever close. Goodness, this place is negative. I wouldn't doubt it if some idiot was clamoring for Dooley to be fired. Our fan base has been beyond ornery these past few years.

My 4 favorite teams:

Tennessee
Georgia
Whoever is playing Florida
Whoever is playing Montana

Go Vols.

Offensive Line was pathetic. They look weak to me. Can't get any kind of push against a greatly inferior opponent. We couldn't run the ball to save our lives. Defense also had way too many lapses against an opponent of this caliber.

No we we will be anybody decent unless we can play much much better.

It was classless. Also classless when he felt he needed to run the clock all the way down and then call timeout in a 42-16 game. Not sure what his idea was. I always thought it was classless t kick cheap field goals after a game was decided.

This is kind of how you play when you've been delayed an hour and half as it was for them. You warm up quickly, but you don't have the same tenacity flowing. I thought besides a few things, they played well. Was it pretty? No it was the first game of the season. People need to quit crying, if they were so good at football, they would be on the field. Not being armchair quarterbacks.

Not to be a complete smart ass, but you can't be on the field when you have no eligibility left. And you don't have to have ever played to lose it.

My first UT home game and it wasn't a disappointment. I hated that the pregame was cut out. But we got field passes and the game was great. Gbo!

Thank you for clarifying. Was preparing the crucifix. :)

Oh trust me... Several on here didn't read the entire post or even the post I replied to. They just assumed I was calling my own team classless. It is late and the Tennessee whiskey has been hit pretty hard by all so it's understandable.

overall...I'm ok/pleased with the game. I thought bray was incredibly accurate. Hit a lot of people in stride...made some really good throws. He did have one or two bad/lazy throws but i think he'll correct that. Overall...I just thought throw after throw was on the spot.

As everyone has pointed out...we didn't run the ball well. I'm going to hold out judgement and see how next week goes. I have to assume it will improve. Lane looked good...hopefully we were keeping things simple from a play calling standpoint.
