Take the money and run like it's an '07 Tebow pick six. His stock can only go down, and his family needs the money.

I hope he stays. But if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't think twice.

I actually want the kid to go pro. If he came back he would be risking a lot. I want what's best for the kid, he's earned it.

It would be selfish of us to ask him to do that. Especially now that his family needs money. But he's been one of my favorite players And I'll love watching him on Sundays

I know it might be inevitable and have heard about his parents situation, but I remember feeling the same way with Manning!

The Mannings had plenty of financial security, to say the least. Peyton came back because he wanted to win a championship. Berry might think the same thing for a little while, but ultimately common sense will win out and he will go pro after this season.

Here's hoping he gives his family the financial security to let the next Berry stay all four years if he wants to!!

usually i like seeing players stay for four years to show their love for the game, but i would applaud EB for going pro, not out of selfish ambitions but to support his family

That would be the best reason out there, money for your family and not being greedy, (which i know EB isn't).

I think if you commit to a school....you commit for 4 years! That should be the rules!

The school is giving the player a 4 year commitment, the school after 3 years cant say well you didnt turn out to well on the field you cant come back to school next year

Why can't Berry win the Heisman this year? Some say Manning didn't win it because he didn't play big in big games. Berry played huge in this big, big game. #1 team in the country. Supposed to beat us by a hundred points. Interception. Player of the game.
C'mon Heisman. Give it to him!! Let's hear it!!

While I would very much enjoy seeing another year of Eric Berry in Orange, I simply cannot bring myself to wish for him to do something stupid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that a scholarship is a year to year thing and the university can pull it any year they wish.

I too would love for him to stay, but I can't blame him one bit if he leaves for the money. If he stayed the university would have to take out one heck of an insurance policy against his injury his senior season.

What you are describing is indentured servitude, not athletic scholarship.

The player would take out the insurance policy, not the University.

While we won't find someone to replace Berry, because that is impossible, we'll get someone out there who knows what they are doing from Kiffin's recruits. We'll be fine don't worry.

I say thank you EB for all your contributions thruout your career at UT. Good luck this season and best wishes for you and your family. When the day comes you will be missed, but I am thankful of seeing you in orange.

Gonna miss him, but I hope he goes. He gave UT his best and it was wonderful. Now it is time for him to cash in and take care of his own. Hats off to him as he goes on to make Tennessee proud in the NFL.

*think about it this way, if he gets injured his senior year, we all lose out. But if he gets drafted into the NFL, more blue chip recruits will put UT on their lists. It is a win-win situation. I would almost go so far as to say that it is better for UT if they churn out more 3-and-outs to the NFL than if they keep more 4-year-players. If UT puts more people into the NFL and at the same time has a higher turnover, hence a higher opportunity for players to get off the bench, more quality talent will head for Knoxville. I bet there were a lot of pissed off younger Florida players when Tebow and company decided to stay one more year. They are all sitting on the bench right now. I bet it has crossed their minds that they could be starting for Tennessee, instead.
