The funny thing about coverage of the protests to me is that announcers are taking the "fear" of the anti-Trump crowd seriously when they never took the "fear" anti-Obama people seriously.
Then it all get wrapped in "this is our First Amendment right or this is democracy in action" rhetoric. It's abundantly clear that this only applies if you are protesting the "right" thing.
Protest is protest.
This is from nearly a year ago but it's a good meltdown
"...I know what everybody's going to say, 'I'm moving to Canada'. Not me. I'm staying right the **** here. I'm gonna be here every day telling the world how much I hate you, how much of a clown you are and how we as a nation are better than you will ever be as a racist ****-wad of a human, because I love America, and I'm never giving it up to a troll like you, you b****!" - Mac Miller
You're being disingenuous if not acknowledging the differences in this election cycle. The divide today is much deeper, and it goes way beyond vote counts. This cycle has stirred up lots of vitriol and ugliness on both sides; it was never going to magically disappear post-election.
Love the over reaction from the left. Protests, violence, crying, posting videos trying to out p##sy each other. Now it should be more evident than ever before why the left is a miserable group of people.
You do have a point the passion of Trump supporters is far different than previous cycles. But I don't think they would take to the streets and riot and burn like other protesters would. I feel if they wanted an outlet for their anger, a more directed approach would be taken for their hostility. Directed at the things they felt were the reason for the lost election.
