Official Election Day Meltdown Thread

You're being disingenuous if not acknowledging the differences in this election cycle. The divide today is much deeper, and it goes way beyond vote counts. This cycle has stirred up lots of vitriol and ugliness on both sides; it was never going to magically disappear post-election.

1) it's complete speculation
2) conservatives don't stage bull**** marches

Not disingenuous at all. It just sounds like a rationalization based on the popular myth that goes something like "both sides do it".

This is the left.

After Obama was elected, the protest took the form of a grassroots movement called the Tea Party. And it was organized and executed in a lawful manner. There is a big difference.

I don't particularly care whether or not a movement is done in "lawful manner."

That doesn't surprise me.

But it still doesn't change the fact that you choose to rationalize this mobocracy by projecting what you think the other side would do. Because this election was "different".

I'm beginning to think "different" just means that the Democrats lost.

It was different because the candidates were far more polarizing and ridden with scandal, yet the support from both sides oozed with vitriol and passion.

Put on your thinking cap and you'll see it's more than the dems losing, sweetheart.

Different party won. Republicans were pissed in both of those elections. The two sides handle anger differently.

They do. However, Trump energized the voting base in such a cavalier fashion. His supporters echoed his unabashed anger. On the flip, the dems became so obsessed with stopping him from winning that they became guilty of the blind hate they wanted so hard to vote against.

Of course it's speculation. Speculation based on the atypical nature and behaviors of this election cycle.

Do you honestly believe the size and behavior of Trump supporters closely resembles the traditional conservative crowds? I don't. This cycle is very different and his supporters are much more passionate.

And there's nothing wrong with the 1st amendment.

Don't need my thinking cap when it comes to the left and their mobs. Same story after Bernie went down.

The common denominator when you see protests like these? Leftists.

Age. Socioeconomics. Race.

There are several common denominators, but you're hard on to make this about left or right.

Yes. Too much hate coming from both sides.

It's growing increasingly pointless. It's like they're all high on premium Peruvian flake and everything is perfect.

Madcow's meltdown was epic.

It began with a little story about parking an armored vehicle on top of a missile silo.

I concurred with golf that this is speculation. However, the atypical nature of this cycle is why I believe it.

There's really no rationalization going on as I don't see a problem with peaceful marches. I'd much rather folks vent any frustrations in this manner versus alternate means. I would support the same were it reversed. My larger point being I don't see this as some terrible thing; it's an example of the freedoms which make our country great.

Same, but it's somewhat unprecedented which is disconcerting to me.
