He's also a born and bred gump. Born and raised in Alabama. Coached almost his entire career there, including Tuscalloosa County HS. Widely rumored that he's a huge Alabama fan and actively tried to negative recruit his HS players against Auburn. Does anyone really want another gump anywhere near this school?

This. No more Bama boys.

I’m still confused as to why everyone says we must have a proven head coach to succeed here. History tells us that our best coaches in history had 0 head coaching experience prior to becoming head coaches for us.

Because we've tried that tactic 4 times in a row now and they've all failed. This is probably a do or die hire for UT. They know they have to make a hire that will get everyone talking and win games or we are Nebraska.

But history also tells us that hiring “proven” coaches fails at a higher percentage than hiring coaches with no experience. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Hugh Freeze, Bob Stoops, Gus Malzahn, Tom Herman or insert any other coach with winning head coach experience coach here.

Kiffin might be just FOS, but there’s a lot of smoke around him reaching out to people at Tennessee for some reason.
he has a big buyout though

but with his history there might be a path to an interesting contract.... but its too early to know if they'll even look at him
