Official Bray Train thread (merged)

Per Rucker: A few quotes from Simms:

""There's nothing much I can do about getting hit in the back."
"It wasn't like I dropped back and threw it to the other team." (Swipe at Bray)
"I didn't say anything to (Bray.) They were going to give him plenty of chances."

He's really showing his a$$. Looking like a potential locker room cancer. Dooley needs to engage in a little attitude adjustment.

the defense let him say it, therefore not his fault.

With Simms, our offense is anemic. With Bray, it's at least average. Bray needs to be the starter, no question. The player's seem to respond better to him as well.

Simms is an idiot who is only worried about himself and what he can do to make himself look better. He's the anti-team player.

It's beyond me how anyone could watch the 2 qb's play and actually believe Simms is better. Bray is the future, and Simms, he should've stayed in JUCO.

Bray is better...he is the future... Icant believe u idiots are bashing bray as if he isnt a true freshman come on!!He steps up makes the read with confidence and fires the ball on target..He does not sit in the pocket and pump the ball all day because he is unsure and taking to long on his reads

Just an opinion, but I think one reason Simms holds on to the ball so long is his lack of confidence in making some of the throws. This ultimately may be the difference in the two Quarterbacks.

I noticed the same thing its like he knows he cant make that throw and there is no way he could have made either of the TD throws Bray made!

Would TN's record be any different if Bray had started from the beginning of the season? I'm inclined to say no. We would have about the same record. The only difference is that Bray would be getting valuable experience or on IR.

Why is this thread labeled the way it is? The OP post was in support of Simms, not Bray.

Simms was having a very good day, the first fumble wasn't his fault at all...the second he was partially responsible for but was still a busted block on his blind side.

Bray's pick six basically cost us any chance at winning... although he did recover nicely and made some good throws.

Bray gets sacked just as much as Simms and overthrows receivers more than Simms.

I'm not saying I think we win the game if Simms stays in... but Bray was not better than
Simms on this day, I'd call it a wash. Both played pretty good, but had key mistakes, the pick six being the biggest mistake of the day. I did disagree with the decision to pull Simms, at the time, because he wasn't the problem and was actually play well, the OL had a terrible game.
The int cost us a chance of winning? You realize that the Vols tied the game in the 4th qtr???? That makes no sense.

Bray was significantly better than Simms after his initial mistake. Simms is far less accurate. Bray gives our WRs far more opportunities to catch the ball in stride. He also showed an ability to sense the pressure, something Simms has shown a complete inability to do.

I don't think Dooley will get three recruiting classes. I think he may get to play out his contract, if progress is being made. But they'll start putting together a plan to turn the program over to someone more experienced and not do another knee-jerk fire-and-hire. The boosters will pony up the bucks. They won't go with another newbie or be seduced by daddy's last name. Dooley will get 2-3 years, unless he totally blows recruiting, but nobody will be happy about gi

another dumb post.

How true!!! SIMMS SUX!

The d gave up the points

And who caused the defense to be back on the field so soon? Matt "fumbles" Simms. The fumble led to points being scored.

Even Peyton threw interceptions his true freshman year, six according to stats. Not comparing Bray to Manning because that would be crazy. Name a qb that has never thrown an int.

Bray is the guy.. But DD has the final say. I think bringing him in now takes the pressure off of him. He checked his receivers saw a few pump fakes and he put the ball in windows not many qbs could do. I am not saying he is the Second coming of Manning but man he has the potential to be one of the all time greats...
