I think it hurt us in 2008. Should have been a 1 seed IMO

We had the same record as UCLA going into the conference tourney and had a stronger record. But we got bounced by Arkansas and they won their conference tourney

They ended up playing Western Kentucky in the S16 and we played Louisville :/

Sagarin ranks Kentucky #15 in the country and us 24. He even has Florida ranked over us.

Thoughts?

Yeah I don’t know what happened to his ratings this year but something has gone haywire. Unfortunately the committee is looking at his ranking on their teamsheets

I can definitely see the Vols going pretty far in that bracket. Maybe an upset or two and who knows how far....

Definitely seems like pretty much a consensus Auburn & Cincinnati are the 2 teams in front of Tennessee that we have the best chance of passing. Would much rather Texas Tech be ahead of us rather than those 2 teams, would give a much more favorable location draw.

I feel like one team from the American will most likely be ahead of us. There’s such a huge disparity in that conference that if Cincy loses it most likely going to be to WSU, which then might put them over us. And if Houston were to win out might be enough to jump us. So either we just root for Cincy so that WSU doesn’t jump us, or we’d need Houston to lose at SMU on Wed, then run the table in the American. The former is the safest bet

We’re not likely to move up much just by other teams losing. We’re going to have to win if we want a favorable draw - especially w Auburn in our conference. We should be gunning for them - both for seeding and for site

But we need more than just to pass Auburn, have to move up 2 more spots to get a better location.

Does anyone get the sneaking suspicion that the committee will come out and seed us in a way that makes no sense about how they have communicated seeding would take place all year long?

Like, Lunardi and all of us have them as a 3 and we
come in as like, the last 4 or something

I wouldn’t be surprised at all. Like I’ve said they do whatever they want and come up with justifications no matter how inconsistent it is
