Make the dance every year is not on the table. That takes years to do. And it takes a healthy roster with talent and depth to keep something like that going. If we keep recruiting a roster that filled with unranked 3* it will be tough to sustain success. What happens when Bowden, Bone, Turner and Grant all graduate? What happens if Grant is injured?

You’re smart enough to note progress, you just don’t want to see it or admit it if it happens...

If this team finishes top 5 in the league, and makes the dance with relative ease that’s clear improvement. Then add in that they will return 12/13 players and not sure how anyone would look at the program and not expect another step forward the following season...?

He averages .7 more points and Stokes played with 2 guys who got drafted. Stokes averaged 3 more rebounds a game.

Stokes in year 3 was same age as Grant.

No he wasn't. Grant just turned 19 a month and a half ago. He is young for his grade. Been discussed multiple times.

Stokes, in year 2, was same age as Grant in year 2.

Well we missed the tourney when McRae left and haven't went back so......

Anyone worrying about Hubbs leaving was crazy anyway.

Point is you need a talented roster to sustain success.

All of this is pointless. You will defend Barnes to the death. You've already decided he's the new Cuonzo and can do no wrong.

My stance has remained the same, if Barnes has Vols dancing in year 3 while it took Pearl 4 years, and still no Howland or Avery then I think it’s pretty damn clear who’s method of building a program works better.

Yep

Stokes was better in one measurable area and that's rebounding.
Williams is just plain better of an all around player

Ziti throwing out false statements, the very thing he likes to jump on others for?!?!

Maybe. Or maybe they are maxed out and we don't see any progress next season or we do and it's minimal. Maybe we have an injury to a key player and aren't able to replace him because the backup is Fulkerson/Kent. I like my chances better if we have a guard who can fill it up. Right now we have Bowden who has taken like 4 shots in 3 games and then we cycle through Lamonte, Bone and Daniel and nobody has really took the reigns there and cemented themselves as a difference maker.

Not sure that’s accurate, Grant is a year ahead of his class.

He reclassifed or he just has a birthday that makes him younger than his classmates? Stokes graduated early and started a half year earlier than he was supposed to.

Junior Stokes and Sophomore Grant are both 2 years removed from their senior year.

Experience in college is much more important than age even though the age thing isn't on your side anyway

Both are 2 years removed from high school. Stokes was thrown into the season after Christmas. Great experience for him.

Sorry I didn't know the guy's birthday. Doesn't matter though. Stokes is better.

And if you are throwing out experience then stokes has a half season of experience over him to that point. Not exactly a ton.

To be fair stokes has an extra 1/2 year on Williams and Williams still is a better outside shooter, better free throw shooter, can make an occasional 3 when Jarnell couldn't and stretches the floor more than Stokes and handles the ball better. Hard to argue stoke is better with nearly all the measurables going against that thinking

Stokes' birthday is in early January, so he was 18 when he played the spring semester in his first year. Grant was born in November, 1998, so he just turned 18 after he started his college career. They are on pace at a similar age.

Wrong. Again.

He's made 6 threes in his career and shoots below 20%. Stokes didn't take 3's. Shoots about 7% better from the line.

Stokes shoots a better % if we are gonna break down miniscule differences.

Rebounds significantly better than Grant.

Stokes is simply better in my book. Done discussing it.

Wrong. Again.

Everyone else is wrong and Ziti is right...where have I heard that before?

When you only shoot from 6ft the % is going to be higher. Stokes had zero 15-17 ft game

And when you make three 3's a year it's nothing to brag about.

He hasn't made that Jump this year like I expected. He shot it well at the end of last year but it hasn't carried over.

However he is a guy that shoots a lot more from 15-17ft than stokes did. Stokes got a lot of pts off offensive boards. Williams is just more polished while Stokes was a bull in a china shop.

Yea clearly Tyndall was superior

Both sucked. Good thing people like you and I stepped up and signed that petition to light a fire in that last team by Cuonzo. Would have been a shame if they missed the dance with 3 guys who got drafted in the next 15 months.
