You can end this thread. We're not making the NCAAT. This team is way too mentally weak and nobody wants to step up. Today was a puke worthy choke job.

It sounds crazy, but winning 4 straight in the SECT is still a possibility. If somebody else can knock out Kentucky, there's really not another team in the SEC that I'd chalk up as a certain loss on a neutral court. Maybe Auburn if they get their best player back. Even Wade Houston took a bad TN team to the SECT finals (although Allan was the type of player that could carry a bad team).

True though. Winning out in the regular season would be miraculous.

I appreciate the optimism. I wish I had more of it. But no one on this team and nothing they’ve done suggests they can get hot enough to win the SECT.

Vescovi has improved. JJJ has been fighting through an injury. Fulk and JJJ have played with the flu. Bowden could be emerging from his offensive funk. There's still upside potential if Uros could add anything, if Pons can grab some rebounds. If Olivier doesn't make mistakes. If JJ can knock down some 3s. It's not likely, but not out of the question considering that there's not a huge gap between nearly every team in the conference. Even Vandy played KY tough and beat LSU. Plus Nashville is kind of a home game except when KY is the opponent. I wouldn't place a bet, but I wouldn't be shocked if TN could win the SECT. It would help a lot if the weekend opponents didn't have the double bye.

Once again, appreciate the optimism, but that’s about 10 “ifs”. And the fact that Plavsic putting it together was even mentioned as a possibility makes me question your sanity.

Lol, this team couldn't hold a 17 point lead today and wilted like a dead flower; anyone thinking they're suddenly going to get tough and smart and about every other thing they need in the next 2 weeks are just playing themselves.

Texas AM passed us up today. Where'd we be if we took Buzz instead of Cuonzo? Threw in another IF.

Bowden went for a career high. Anything can happen. I don't think we make it, but it's not off the table just yet.

We could be spotted a 10 point lead with two minutes on the clock for each of our remaining games and I wouldn’t put money on us to win any of them.
Team plays well in spurts but unfortunately the ugliness outside of these sports is some bad basketball.

And I'm framing them as "or" rather than "and". TN has been in nearly every game do far. Just add a few if those ifs and they could be winning them.

As far as the Uros if... I said "add anything". He scored pretty well in an earlier game. If he could score a few points or grab a few rebounds or affect a few shots that's adding something.

I hate having to figure out an alternate team to pull for. Maybe Gonzaga or San Diego State will do it for me. Just win the damn SECT and I can avoid the dilemma.

Uros grew up playing fiba ball. You can tell he's really having trouble adjusting to the physicality of the US game. Then when he tries to be aggressive it's late and he gets called. Has to be confusing.

I'm all in on ETSU until something changes.
Have to wonder what Forbes would do with a schedule like Barnes. 19 of his 22 wins are Quad 3 4 games. Only 6 Quad 1 2 games.
TN plays like 17+ quad 1 2s.

This team just couldn't find the consistency this year. They have, however, provided me with a lot to look forward to for next year.

Vescovi has improved since getting on campus. He will only get better as he conditions and gets stronger and faster. Not to mention he will have 3 more quality players to dish the ball to next year, 2 being some guards that will be able to score from all over the floor.

Pons and Fulky both will have one more year and both drastically improved this year.

JJJ caught a lot of unwarranted flack IMO, I think once he goes a full year without being hurt he'll he a different player.

Those are the key pieces for next year. Hoping too that Plavsic can improve in the offseason.

I always have felt that the PG position is the most important when making a run in the tournament. Next year is going to be fun to watch.

As for this year, though, it's over in terms of postseason. You can't turn the ball over a gazillion times at this point in the season (or at any point for that matter) and expect to be a tournament team.

Apparently Lunardi had us moving back into the next four out if we would have won Saturday. USA Today still has us on the bubble in their bracketology. It's very dim, but there's still a sliver of hope left. The bubble is extremely weak this year. Still think 3 of the next 4 will get us in.
