I love a system where a bunch of people living in and around Hoover, Alabama decide which bowl game Tennessee plays in every year.

It's mostly done for balance. It's actually a bit better than the previous setup.

We could still end up playing Louisville in the Belk. If Colorado beats Washington and Virginia Tech beats Clemson the Citrus bowl would end up reverting back to the Big Ten, Clemson would go to the Cotton, Florida State to the Russell Athletic, The taxslayer would like take Miami to play Kentucky, and Louisville would fall all the way to the Belk.

Not really a plausible scenario either. The Citrus Bowl only reverts back if the Orange Bowl takes an SEC team instead of a big 10 team, and it has to make that decision based on the CFP rankings.

Going into this weekend, that wouldn't happen in your scenario. After the Sugar takes Auburn, there's not an SEC team ranked high enough at that point, with the scenario you said.

We also might end up playing Wisconsin in the Music City if Colorado beats Washington and Clemson wins. In that case our defense would be flattened.

Probably wouldn't have either. It would be a very slim to almost no chance that Wisconsin would end up falling that far in the bowl selection afterwards...you'd need 2-3 bowls to pass on them for unranked teams with worse records.

It sounds like the #Vols vs #Indiana is pretty much a done deal back in Nashville on December 30th at 3:30 pm EST in the Music City Bowl.

Doesn't really seem like too sound of a source on this, actually:

(1) What I said about a #Vols #Indiana match-up looking like it was done was from the #ESPN projections. It's not like I asked around here

(2) because at this point I don't care if we bowl in Alaska. So if you're a small minded peanut laugh all night

is there a bowl selection show or do we have to trust the twittering twits ?

There will be a show the evening that the final CFP rankings are released.

Right now, a lot of people are just going off of projections, speculation, Twitter and the radio.

I'm just following tweets from the bowls and it looks like Michigan is a lock for the Orange Bowl.. and Citrus Bowl committee said of "because we are expecting the orange bowl rule to be triggered, a Big 10 Team will be unlikely.

They are saying Louisville or FSU. I think they take Louisville for sure.

As for TN, if Auburn goes to Sugar.. I really think the Citrus comes down to LSU or TN.

Right down the street and i'll still watch it on TV. Fitting, it's about what we earned this year. Indiana will look like the New England Patriots against our defense.

... and to think just a very few short years ago this board was abuzz with "if we could just somehow find our way back to bowl eligibility."

If Butch's tenure didn't coincide with a historic collapse of the East, we'd still be saying that.
