They have already said they're not considering Tennessee.

Tennessee most likely will NOT go to the Outback bowl over LSU or Florida. Tennessee coming off a loss to Vandy probably won't travel well this bowl season.

The Bowl does not choose which SEC team plays. The SEC will select a team. Look at the bowl website.

A lot of recruits in Memphis area. Flooding Memphis with orange might help with recruiting.

It's a combination for the pool of 6 bowls.

The schools submit the bowls they're interested in and eligible for.

The bowls submit a list of schools they're interested in.

The front office takes this information and combines it and makes a decision, but it does so while also putting emphasis on things like avoiding sending a team repeatedly to a bowl that it's been to recently, avoiding regular season rematches or recent bowl game matchups, taking into consideration how far the fans and team would have to travel, and so on

Yeah, just used to it being same day as Outback bowl.

Yeah, the Outback is Jan. 2nd.

RayJay is going to have some serious activity in that span.

1/1/17...Bucs vs. Carolina
1/2/17...Outback Bowl
1/9/17...Title Game

They'll probably re-sod the field right after the Outback Bowl.

We could still end up playing Louisville in the Belk. If Colorado beats Washington and Virginia Tech beats Clemson the Citrus bowl would end up reverting back to the Big Ten, Clemson would go to the Cotton, Florida State to the Russell Athletic, The taxslayer would like take Miami to play Kentucky, and Louisville would fall all the way to the Belk.

I'd love this.

Hoping for Outback or Taxslayer. UT fanbase should be accounted for getting one of these bowls. The economy likes the Vols.

Finishing 2nd in the SEC east. Yes, ahead of Kentucky, who Tennessee destroyed on the field.

Why the hell would Kentucky get Taxslayer when they would bring 5-10k fans opposed to UTs 30-40k fans?

Funny how Butch doesn't feel supported, yet UT has one of the best-traveling fan bases around.

I love a system where a bunch of people living in and around Hoover, Alabama decide which bowl game Tennessee plays in every year.

It's very hard to get very excited about any bowl given how we screwed the pooch this year. I'm emotionally empty right now regarding Vol football. I've been a fan 50+ years and I'm running out of optimism.

Do the Vols get the bowl that they deserve this year, yep, the way they limped home isn't very impressive to anyone: Butch Jones, you hear, not impressed

Birmingham! Oh Birmingham!

They should have a special bowl at Neyland with the proceeds going to the fire victims.

TN vs NC, or NCST or Pitt.

The Taxplayer Bowl chair wants Kentucky v. Georgia Tech.

But it seemed based on Music City Bowl's twitter account they had their minds on Georgia Tech as well as Georgia.

It's in Nashville. Shouldn't they have put more time focusing on TN/Vandy? haha!

Mod's maybe we should have all the potential TWITTER comments from potential bowls on this thread or a new one? Kind of like how they do in recruiting forum.

Just checked with Citrus Bowl, and GA is definitely out. They are pondering an LSU/Louisville game. But before, on Nov. 26th, they were thinking Tennessee was going to the NY6 game... not sure if that was before or after our loss. haha!
