Official Bowl Selection Thread

Charlotte or Nashville are the only options I see. Both are Ho hum. Our fanbase will travel to those destinations, but doubtful any further.

I have been to Neyland before--many many times. Even went this season. I have also been to the MCB in Nashville...it was cool, but the ending sucked.

Playing any Big 10 school in any bowl is a yawner. Yay we made a bowl. So did 79 other teams.

Good Lord lets hope not!! I notice where you are from. Surely you don't want to subject anyone to Memphis for a football ballgame, let alone at this time of year. Personally I would not go if I was given tickets knowing it's only a 2-1/2 (if lucky) hour drive one way. Also, I'am sure the team would have a wonderful time in the gem city of Memphis.

I'm not excited about our bowl prospects, but depending on work I will likely go to Nashville or Memphis for the bowl. Memphis is much closer for me, but I want us in the best bowl possible, of course.

Also, I will never understand the hate for Memphis on this board. I've had a lot of fun over the years in Memphis. There are Vol fans in West Tennessee too...

Zepp, just ask folks FROM Memphis what they think about that town. I was born and raised there and I can tell you it is a dirty, violent, corrupt place. Doesnt mean there arent some bright spots where folks are trying their best, some of the finest human beings I know live there to this day, but as a whole, Memphis is a hole. Its sad really.

Music City Bowl... tie-in with fundraising for ET wildfire victims... Everybody wins. UT looks fabulous.

This is the hand you are dealt when you lose to two garbage teams with losing records..
Look on the bright side....UT get's the much needed practice. I recall several years back that extra practice being a big deal and we could start a streak for Jonesy.....undefeated in bowl appearances ! Bring on dem Gophers, ole Smokey getting hungry! GO BIG ORANGE !:good!: :pepper: :yahoo:

UT vs. Minnesota in Nashville is what I'm hearing the most...someone posted UT vs. NC in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte and I'd love to see that happen because NC has played competitive ball this year. GO VOLS!

which is certainly better than no bowl at all. Obviously, VOL players, coaches & fans would have much preferred the Playoff or the Sugar. The Music City bowl historically has had SOME good match ups, fun games, and it's better than sitting at home.

Butch can take TN to 3-0 in bowl games!

GO VOLS!!!

Auburn to sugar
florida to citrus
lsu to outback
uga to liberty
vanderbilt to independence
South Carolina to birmingham
texas a&m to texas bowl

Now where does UT, Kentucky, and Arkansas land?

What's the better bowl in your opinions out of the Gator, Music City, and Belk? I

And because I'm still sore about how the game ended last time we played them...

Which is why the SEC will probably keep UT close to home, my money says Nashville but I guess Charlotte and Memphis could be destinations as well.

Agreed. I'll be surprised if it's anything other than Nashville.

Vols will put more fans in the seats there more than any other team they could plug in.

John Brice is his weekly piece says that unless something drastic changes this weekend it'll likely be the Music City Bowl vs Nebraska.

Views From The Top: Charlie Anderson, David Blackburn, help the wildfire victims, Music City Bowl

Brice certainly didn't mince words about UT's response to the Gatlinburg tragedy in that story.

Hats off to Dobbs for being a man and showing up there to help encourage the firefighters and victims.

I guess the face of the football program is too busy scrounging for JUCO CB's to be bothered with it.

I'm going to be so aggravated if we go to the TaxSlayer Bowl I had a chance a couple of months ago to buy as many TaxSlayer Bowl tickets as I wanted for about $10 apiece but at that time I thought it was an outside possibility that we could possibly go to the Sugar Bowl or bigger bowl so I passed on it

We could still end up playing Louisville in the Belk. If Colorado beats Washington and Virginia Tech beats Clemson the Citrus bowl would end up reverting back to the Big Ten, Clemson would go to the Cotton, Florida State to the Russell Athletic, The taxslayer would like take Miami to play Kentucky, and Louisville would fall all the way to the Belk.

Zero chance we go to the taxslayer bowl so you're good.

We also might end up playing Wisconsin in the Music City if Colorado beats Washington and Clemson wins. In that case our defense would be flattened.

Nebraska has terrible special teams. Their punter sadly died in the offseason and they recently fired their special teams coach. There Defense is average also. Nowhere near as good as Vanderbilt's.
