I've lived here for three years. Go downtown all the time. Worst I've ever had to deal with is some somewhat aggressive panhandling.

Bad stuff happens but almost all of that bad stuff is confined to a few bad neighborhoods I.e. Orange mound, south memphis near 3rd street, Frayser, and white haven.

There's no need to go anywhere near those areas.

No word yet on UT bowl outlook. I was told earlier today that if SEC got 3 teams in CFP bowls that increased chances of going to Belk Bowl.

Exactly avoid Orange Mound and Frayser and you're okay.

And part of the reason the crime rate is high is because all of it is reported. Memphis reports everything to FBI stats and a lot of other cities don't.

Crime has actually dropped a fair amount over the past ten years. D.A. Weirich has done a great job.
