QUOTE=tennisguy;1672115]By Fulmers comments I bet anything he will start Crompton and play both of them about half and half. What a crock! I am so sick of this. Crompton has done nothing in the first 4 games that gives him the right to start. He should be benched and not even see the field. Stephens should start, play the entire game, and get ready for a hostile environment the following week in athens. This is ridiculous![/QUOTE]

(1)Was there ever any doubt.(2)I agree.(3)Benching is an effective tool in cpf arsenal, some of the best have been benched. Not judging just stating some possibilities.:good!:

Can't read defenses and his footwork is still as bad as it was during the Orange and White game.

and that's Clawson's job. It's also his job to have Crompton ready. How much of this is Fulmer's fault is anyone's guess and no one, and I repeat no one on here knows that answer. Which is why I am getting closer and closer to not just firing Fulmer, but completely cleaning house of the coaching staff and letting whoever takes over as HC gets to pick his own assistants.

How did I know that Fulmer would do this. Another duel qb fiasco.

I have been a Fulmer loyalist but this thing with Crompton, has me slowly moving to the side that wishes him gone.

Did everyone know that Stephens sat out his JR year of HS because he transferred. He only really played one year at QB in Texas and was a 3 star. He might be better than that 3 star ranking he was given...

Anything is possible. Crompton was ranked #2 behind USC's Mark Sanchez in the drop-back passer category. Now he's ranked #14 in the SEC; meaning that two teams' back ups are ranked higher than he is!

Keeping my fingers crossed for Saturday (and the rest of the season). I just hope that CPF makes a bowl during his final year at UT.

Based on a lot of quotes in this article, Fulmer is trying to tell us that Crompton is as dumb as a box of rocks.

" the competition will have a lot to do with what's going on between the ears." (this wasn't fulmer, but the author)

"It's a legitimate competition for the number one position," UT coach Phillip Fulmer said. "Because physically they both can throw the football, it's the mental part of the game and how they compete."

"Fulmer said, a lot of the miscommunications stem from the junior's difficulty finding anyone but the primary receiver."

"One was a read-route that was misread," Fulmer said. "A couple of them were balls he threw away not to give up a sack. A couple of them were just not good throws or not finding the second and third receiver - second receiver in most cases.

"He wasn't finding his second receiver very well and when he did, he didn't throw it as accurately as we would like to have him throw. That's where we are."

Right now they claim Coleman is having an even more difficult time reading defenses than Crompton. Give Coleman time to see what might possibly happen. Just because he's from Chattanooga doesn't change the fact that he's only a freshman.

A freshman that can still be redshirted at that.

Coleman is definitely more raw at this point - but that speaks volumes about his potential in the future considering he was neck and neck with Stephens for the 2nd string until a week before the UCLA game. His fundamentals aren't as good so once(or if he can) fix that I think he'll be the most well rounded of our QBs. He out-performed Stephens in all the scrimmages (although he was taking snaps with the 3rd stringers) - so he just needs time to get it all together... he's a really hard worker.

People say that, but Stephens was named #2 months before UCLA.

I've watched the games and he does have a field of view problem.I think he's been coached on throwing the ball short. He knows that to be the game plan, he doesn't even see the entire field.I still say concentration is the problem.

I swear I remember hearing Fulmer say we've obviously found our number one quarter back now we just gotta find the back up.

He may have meant we have a guy capable of starting- now we need a guy that can back him up. As in: Crompton is playing like a starter, Stephens needs to start playing like a reserve.

Stephens should get 75-80% of the snaps for NIU. We know what Johnny can (or can't) give us already.

I wonder what NIU thinks about this. Fulmer testing out QBs during the game.

Several times against Auburn, Crompton was out of sync with receivers. While it's not all Crompton's fault, Fulmer said, a lot of the miscommunications stem from the junior's difficulty finding anyone but the primary receiver.
"One was a read-route that was misread," Fulmer said. "A couple of them were balls he threw away not to give up a sack. A couple of them were just not good throws or not finding the second and third receiver - second receiver in most cases.

If Fulmer knows this, why is there even a competition? Nothing else should matter. I don't give a rats ass what he does in practice. Stephens deserves to be able to start and play the whole game.

Well I don't care as long as its not JC but I think if we put GJ in there we should have warren on the field for him to pass it to

The change at QB should have been made during the second half of the Florida game. I cannot believe that Fulmer stuck it out with Crompton all the way through the Auburn game.

My god... cant find the second receiver... if you cant find the 2nd receiver you better be able 2 run a 4.3 to be any count.. and i think JC is closer 2 a 5.3 than a 4.3

I love how Jones says he has confidence in all three QB's and lists Crompton last on the list.
