Official Book Thread - What You're Reading & Everything Book Related (merged)

I decided last month to try to read some more "classic" books. I just finished the D'Artegnan romances by Dumas (Three Musketeers, Twenty years later, Man in the Iron Mask) and I am currently reading A Farewell to Arms by Hemingway.

Great thread idea. :hi:

If you haven't read Count of Monte Cristo it's a fun read in that same vein.

Anybody else into John Sandford? I blew through all of the Reacher novels and dabbled in some Clive Cussler and Harlen Coben. I think Sandford is becoming a favorite.

I recently watched the first Hobbit movie with my son in anticipation of seeing the current one in theaters with him.

We then powered through Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers. Return of the King is on deck for this weekend.

All this exposure to middle earth has inspired me to re-read the Hobbit and LOTR. The Hobbit is a quick read. I am 188 pages in the Fellowship of the Ring.

Should also read The Silmarillion, IMO.

I'll save you time when it comes to reading The Two Towers..its about walking..that is it..seriously.

Reading The Forest by Edward Rutherford. I have Blood Meridian up on deck next. Just read At The Mountains of Madness by HP Lovecraft. <--needs to be a movie.

Have you ever read Louis Lamour books?
Yep. I went on a binge of them a few years ago. I think I may have even talked about them in this very thread.

Yep.

Good thread bump. I was just thinking of this one.

Recently I have read the Sackett series and Hondo by L'Amour, a few of the Alex Cross books by Patterson (total junk food for the brain) and the Great Santini at the suggestion of BPV (fantastic book).

I also read The Road and No Country for Old Men in there. I am going to get my hands on a copy of Suttree pretty soon.

At the suggestion of one of my work colleagues, I am about 90 pages into "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin. Looks like an interesting series of books.
Searching this thread makes me realize that I read a lot more a few years ago. I need to up my game.

Just finished Neil Gaiman's Good Omens. Kind of underwhelmed by the ending, but it was good nonetheless.

Next up... ? I have no idea.

Started Divergent by Veronica Roth last night. Seems like it'll go by fast.

After that is either the 2nd book in the series or I also downloaded Stardust by Neil Gaiman.
