Why do we need to offer every one else if we got Gundy? Obviously they felt mutual interest with Gundy. Just because we had 8.4 or more to offer didn't mean we were going to even have interest from Peterson, Frost, or any other name we decide to throw out there. Honestly I feel that Gundy had interest last time and we blew it. Just be happy if we manage to pull this off.

I think it doesn't matter what you pay him because they know what they can afford. The question is to get results. They may have started at a lower price and had to work their way up. Just as important as the head coach is the staff. We must have the best we have fallen well short in that area in the last many years.

If they pay a Gundy $8.4 million, there will be a civil war. Ridiculous.

Unfortunately with what happened Sunday. We didn't have much choice. I don't see Peterson leaving WA. Frost you would be in a bidding war with NE. You have to go with someone who is showing interest. I am betting that Gundy saw what a sh*t show we had going on and thought to himself. Wow I could make a killing over at UT. Yeah we could have gotten an unproven Tee who didnt get hired by GSU. They are not bringing Kiffin back. So kind of turning into a short list quick.

"How can they spend over 300 million on a new stadium and hire a crappy coach. That's crazy!"

**Same people**

"How can they hire a good coach for 8 million when they could get someone just okay for like 3. That's crazy!"

Y'all crack me up. Woe is me, we are a mess, we will never get a coach. The AD says fine, we can fix this. We will over pay, but we will get a good coach.

And all the sudden everyone is a penny pincher.

Might want to Offer another former Oklahoma State coach. Les Miles. We could offer Les $5 million and put in incentives of winning the east, SEC championship, etc to bump it up to one of the highest paid coaches in CFB.

Me too but I wouldn't be trilled. Recruiting to LSU was probably easier for him than it would be at UT. It's hard not to like the guy.

So if everyone thinks that is too much money for Gundy we can always fall back on Kiffin. He'd come back for 3.5 mil I'd bet.

If we hired Gundy at $8.4M that would not even rank as the the 2nd most ridiculous thing Tennessee has done this week. If there was going to be a civil war it would have happened already

I got the feeling that someone chewed on Currie and he's calling everybody he can get a number for.

^^This. Gundy would be a base hit hire but 8.4 is overpaying. Unless Haslam wants to pay it out of his pocket as retribution for being a dumbazz.

After last weekend, we are in a position where we will be overpaying anyone.

Tennessee doesn't have much leverage right now.

Gundy with a top notch defensive coordinator like Kevin Steele would be a home run. His offenses have been prolific at Oklahoma St. Currently they are 2nd in total offense and 3rd in scoring.

None of this is your money It all comes from money raised in the Athletic Dept. No tax money or money from the University is used.

With a clause for grounds keeping, he must pay for the grass he eats.

So Currie doesn't even attempt to go after the big coaches. Now he is willing to offer Gundy 8.2 mil (according to reports)? Wtf? How is Currie still employed.

Let me see we make around 120 million a year and you’re offended we pay a big coach 8 million. I guess you want see Neyland empty.
