The stat line includes an increase in offensive rebounding. With a plathora of threes, many missed shots rebound in lengths outside the paint, thus an awareness of increased pursuit rather than boxing out under the rim.

The post defense without a protecting center: The team does not defend the dribble-drive waiting for post help. My observations are more attempts to take charges.

We are getting the long rebounds that have alluded us for seemingly decades. We struggled with height in the only game we faced it. Hopefully the post defense will get better but we don’t have a lot of height roster wise so keeping a post presence in every substitution pattern is tough. Our guards are aggressive in going for rebounds and are athletic and that has been the secret to our rebounding success.

From the start CKC said that her guards had always been (and she expected would be here) her leading rebounders. I wonder if she did her own film study early in her career, or if someone submitted a paper showing results of a computer study on where most missed 3-point shots bounce to? I always got the feeling that she had definite places she wanted her players to go, depending on the angle of the shot.

Bill Russell always said that most of his rebounds came not from jumping but from positioning based off of the shot angle.

I worry about our occasional failure to protect the paint on defense. I know the idea is to deny the ball from going into the paint, however, it has been an issue. The Liberty game was a perfect example of that. There is no way that Liberty should have scored over 90 points against this team. I hope we can fix that against Florida State.

Remember, we played Liberty on Game 4 of a 29-game season, and Kim has repeatedly said her system takes time -- but defense WILL improve. Yes, on Game Day Four Liberty scored 90 while our team was still early in the process of learning each other and everything new and different. If we were to play them again on Game Day 14, I am 75% certain they wouldn't be putting up 90 again. By game 20 I'd be 100% certain!

The Lady Vols are getting better every day. I believe in them!

Yes she is 6’2’’ but standing in the paint uncovered could be a problem. Covering the paint has been an occasional issues in most of the LVs prior games this season. I do have faith that this coach knows what she is doing.
