Offensive line will vastly improve under Pruitt. Details

Every position group will greatly improve under Pruitt. We will win a NC under Pruitt, more than one if we can hang on to him. The man is a PROVEN COACH / WINNER! Best coach we have had since the General, hands down.

We hopefully have coaches that are smart enough to coach around OL deficiencies and not ask they to do things that they just cant physically do. Like was said before, it would take an extreme amount of effort to NOT get better from last year.

last years offensive line was very uninspiring to see however there are pieces in place . Trey smith is obviously one of the best around. Richmond is a more then serviceable tackle dont get why he gets knocked all the time. ryan johnson has good size and looks like he can develop into a nice piece. hall if he comes back from injury and plays atleast at the level he did as a freshman will benefit them. Tatum has alot of talent just needs the build and another year in the weight room. locklear and a few others could definitely surprise and develop into good lineman. I mean people forget that about past lineman that have gone through here like a weisman who came in unheralded waited there turn and developed into good offensive linemen.

development has been on the backburner for a while, and it doesn't get made up in a single off season. at least not wholistically, especially at the LOS.

O line is an incredibly difficult position to play. Different techniques for rushing, passing, which direction is this play going, trying not to tip for hand as to the direction or type of play, avoiding false starts, all while trying to blocm future nfl pass rushers week in and out. It all as to become instinctual....which takes time.

In high school coaches will sometimes teach you to loom at the olines knuckles or fingers. If they were turning white, they were leaningon their hand, indicating a running play cause they will push forward. If they werent, it was likely a pass play, fingers would barely on the ground, cause they were about to stand for passing plays.

is this a serious post? do you really think defensive lineman look at knuckles pre snap

I don't want an offensive line that plays dirty, but I sure wouldn't mind a bunch of guys that walk right up to the line of dirty and lean out over to see what the other side looks like. Hyper aggressiveness and intimidation are what it takes to compete against the baddest of the bad defenses in the league.

The good news is that I think there's some of that in Pruitt and if so, it's likely in the the coaches he picked to work with.

yep....considering what we've seen the last 2-3 years, yeah, i think it is certainly possible to see a marked improvement, while also realizing....we ain't there yet.

This is how I feel about it. I have zero doubts weÂ’ll see a little improvement, but itÂ’ll take a couple of years to get to where we need to be.

Offensive line play is actually one of the most "coachable" things in football. It is extremely technique driven. If you have motivated young men of reasonable size and strength, a good coach should be able to get respectable play out of them. You're not going to turn them all into Trey Smith, but you should be able to make it work.

That Grad transfer would really help more than likely another starter if he came here.

Yep.

Step 1. Bend with your knees, not your back
Step 2. Place hand on ground.
Step 3. Put hands up and block person with different jersey.
Step 4.
Step 5. Profit.

Hall and Richmond will be the tackles. Smith and a very good chance for 330 pound Carvin to play a lot at guard. Johnson and Locklear at center don't see how either could be any worse than the guy that finally graduated. Hopefully we get that Grad transfer and the JC player J. Johnson would have great shots at the two deep. Others Tatum, Niehaus, and Brooks. We need some help here at least we got most of what was mentioned above.

yes. i've heard them talk about it. there's all kinds of little nuances players look for to give them an edge.

I was actually being sarcastic lol if your being taught to look at knuckles you should probably question how much that coach knows about football. I can assure you that no college defensive lineman is looking at a players knuckles to see if there white lol I just wasnÂ’t sure if that was a sarcastic post or if people think that goes on. Maybe in pop warner.

I dont know if trey is " the best player on the team " but I can tell you he is really really good.

Also offensive linemen must be really smart to play on this level and he certainly is that. He is a once in a decade kind of player. He is not going to be as well loved as EB or PM because he will never have the ball in his hands but what he does on the field is extremely important.

Trey Smith is clearly our best player. Think of it this way, what other player besides Smith, would be a starter on any really good program?

The positive is they all got experience last year.

Indeed, the Oline gained more experience than they could handle last year as they were run over by virtually everyone

Will this year be any different, let's pray it will:eek:k:

I canÂ’t discount any of our line. ItÂ’s hard to block when 7 bum rush one spot to stop our RB.

... or lack of effort, but with CJP & staff I reckon they will ALL be working their a**es off... coaches and players alike.
