Find me examples of teams that were dominant along the lines of scrimmage and weren't good. Its almost impossible. Great play along the line of scrimmage usually results in being a winning football team. Just look at the 2000 Ravens. One of the worst offenses ever and still won the Super Bowl because they had the GOAT defense.

So similar to us. 2 guys in the first 2 days. If they were much better than us they would have had more players selected ahead. Instead it was similar. And remember they were an upperclassmen led team so it's not like they had a bunch of young guys leading the way on the d-line.

We were as good as anyone in 2024 along the defensive line. Even mighty Ohio State.

You’re moving the goalposts far here. We aren’t discussing their entire line of scrimmage. Just their dline.

You can have an elite dline and not be an elite team.

2024 Texas A&M was a good example. As was Michigan

2024 Texas A&M was in the conversation for a playoff spot and SEC title game berth until they lost to Texas the final week of the season. They were way better than Michigan. Poor comparison.

Dominant defensive lines make you better than what Michigan was last year. They at the very least keep you in the conversation. And by the way the same applies to a team with a dominant o-line alone. The Dallas Cowboys in the mid-2010s became an elite team just based on the fact their offensive line was the best in football. Did they win a Super Bowl? No. But they were a playoff team that gave people trouble.

Maybe. But remember depth matters as well. So while Michigan top end defensive line talent might have been elite they probably lacked the depth we had. And depth along the d-line is more important than top end talent. A team with 6-7 NFL defensive lineman like Alabama during Saban's heyday will be better than 2016 Texas A&M with just Myles Garrett.

Well this year I'm predicting the offensive line will be just as good. Just watching clips from practice and WOW the big boys on the o-line look mighty impressive this year. They are totally different physically from the soft flabby guys we saw last year taking their shirts off before the Ohio State game.

David Sanders does not look like a freshman. He looks like a franchise left tackle in the NFL. Lance Heard looks way better than he did last year. And behind them I see loads of depth.

Expect the run game to be dominant once again and whatever QB we have under center will look good thanks to our dominant offensive line in 2025.

I wonder with this improved line how the running game will look.

Also with the O line being good they challenge and make our extremely deep defensive line better as well.

One other factor that will help make the OLine look better this year is that Aguilar is good at avoiding sacks. Now he may throw a risky 50/50 ball that may be intercepted, but he isn't one to get sacked much. Great at backpeddaling and keeping his eyes downfield.

Sanders is a stud, but he’ll have a target on his back from day 1. Think it’s gonna take a minute longer for him to settle in and learn than folks are dreaming about. He may show flashes, but he’ll also get picked on early. Just how the SEC works

Some of you have a lot more confidence in our OL coach than I do. He has room for improvement IMO. I still think he is the weak link on the staff. His player development, especially in pass protection, needs to be better. Some of you may be right, we may have better players, but the jury is still out on our OL.
