Offensive Line for 2015????

He's very rarely wrong.

He may have insider info leading him to believe Coleman will be 2015's center. The coaches went way above and beyond giving Coleman chances to be a starter in 2014. Reminds me of how J Johnson was put into games ahead of others who clearly outperformed him. For some reason the staff really believes in those 2? Based on play in games in 2014, there's no way Coleman pushes Crowder aside.

I think just about anyone could block better then Thomas

I don't know if this is fair to Coleman Thomas. He was a true freshman playing completely out of position. He was recruited as a center and forced (?) to play at Tackle. Much different to block at the end of the line as opposed to the center.

This line will get better by default. 3 true freshmen on the right side of the offensive line is a recipe for a$$ whoopins. The biggest improvement in a player is between their freshmen and sophomore years. Another year in the weight will be huge for our O-Line as will another year to work on technique.

I think that Kerbyson will be a starter next season and unless a freshman comes in and blows the staff away, he starts.

He has been mentioned at center also so I am going out on a limb and predicting the starting lineup will be:

LT - Blair
LG - Jackson
C - Kerbyson
RG - Robertson
RT - Kendrick

Just have a feeling that Kendrick takes the RT job in the spring.

Second unit will be:

LT - Jones
LG - Sanders
C - Crowder
RG - Weisman
RT - Thomas

That's how I see it playing out.

Interesting that very few of these projections mention Mosley, even in the 2-deep. I would like to think he'll be ready to contribute.

I honestly feel the entire O-line will improve. I am not making any predictions for next season as it pertains to the 2 deep roster. I will throw this out there as a former collegiate O-lineman. The group as a whole will look different. They will have another season of off-season conditioning/strength training, spring practice, and summer workouts. All the workouts will be geared to developing skills needed to be better at his position. Some of these Freshman were thrown into the fire this season. On field experience is huge. Oh and do not forget, the coaches are bringing in the top D-line in this recruiting class. They will benefit from having to practice as if it were a game everyday in practice. This might turn into a strong point of the 2015 team.

I wasn't a Crowder fan this year either...until he wasn't on the field.

Oline could be the most competitive positions to watch this spring and next fall.
Will Sawyers be added to this mix as well? I thought he was looked at as highly on Oline as Robertson was coming in this year ???

If Blair couldn't see the field this year what makes you guys think he will be our starting left tackle next year?

they really like Thomas. They "hoped" he would be the best option at RT because they were not happy with other options. It didn't work out and we all saw the issues.

Thomas got a lot of C reps during bowl practice and I suspect he gets a lot more during the spring. Maybe he won't be good enough to take the job in the fall but will certainly be given the opportunity.

They really hope to redshirt freshman OL so they can focus on S&C. Again, they hope.

I'm not predicting anything. just offering an opinion on what they would like to see.

I'm not sure what happened, but our oline looked much better vs Iowa.

Barring injury, I think Jack Jones is the only one that doesn't redshirt in our freshman oline haul. I think even Allen redshirts if he commits.

Three 4* guys coming in. I hope they pan out.

Even a "4 star" OL that ends u with a shot at the NFL after college, is rarely "ready" to be successful in the SEC. We don't need a project that ends up All-SEC in 3 years. We need someone THIS year to give Dobbs time to develop deep routes and be able to open some running lanes. This has to be done against probably another top-5 schedule in 15'.

I hope ALL the FR get to redshirt yr1.

Larry,

I want to that you for everything you bring to VolNation. You are always the voice of reason and give way more than you get.

I think our talent is still young. I dont think we can expect them to be great next year. Even the youngsters that are coming in are still just true freshmen. Give it two more years and then the line will be more seasoned

OL: Martez Ivey, Maea Teuhema, Drew Richmond, Jack Jones and Jason Robertson. Charles Mosely, Pat Allen and Marcus Jackson, Kerbyson and Crowder will back them up!

If Blair couldn't see the field this year what makes you guys think he will be our starting left tackle next year?

Here's a couple things:

-- He was red-shirted, just like they were trying to RS Dobbs.

-- Just prior to our first '14 game, our coaches were saying Gilliam and Blair were neck & neck in competition to start at OL.

Redshirts, big Dontavious Blair at tackle and Raulerson who has potential and frame to add good weight. Big Mosley a probable new presence in the OL. Got a couple EE's that might could help. And to think that we had a couple true freshmen and 2 or 3 more 2nd yr men who can all add more strength and technique in the off-season. At least 3 upperclassmen starters returning. And we are not yet done recruiting! Lots of reasons to be patiently optimistic that there will be a strengthened whole emerge from the stronger pieces-parts.

So what your saying is we will have DEPTH! I love it!!
