Is that, when Bray is going to throw to Hunter or Da'rick, everyone knows it. If one of them is first in the progression, he'll eyeball them until the very last second before they're out of their route before he checks down. Anyone else notice this, and do you think they'll fix this during practice?

I understand the concern, but a lot of it is nobody really being able to cover them and Bray just stepping and throwing.

If Florida has a 5'8'' freshman on Hunter without big safety help, he will catch whatever he wants whenever he wants. And break the tackles.

Bray actually checked down quite a few times on Saturday. 400 yds and how many TD's? This is a very funny thread. Worry about the defense keeping people from scoring IMO.

I understand that if the advantage is that large, then there's no sense in watching where he's looking, but to get in that habit, can cost us big time against an SEC caliber defense. I fully expect to perform at the caliber he's shown capable all season and all last year, but I also expect him to make mistakes. Fix this problem now, and get in a habit of keeping your eyes on the field before it's a problem.

Yeah, like the one that he eyed down Da'Rick and 4 guys followed him into the endzone and then he threw to a wide-open Z. Rodgers for a touchdown?

Or the other one where he did the play-fake went through his whole progression and found a wide open D. Rogers in the endzone for another touchdown?

Both of those were a disgrace in my mind, and yes I agree they should work on it in practice. IMHO.

fyp. I'm very, very optimistic about this team, and about Saturday. I'm just trying to get the answer to a question if someone else noticed it. This will hurt us in the future, and anyone with half a damn brain about football would be able to agree.

Another thing that will help will be a lot of different looks and formations this week. Even more than last week, I think. If the two big boys are open, they're getting the dang football, and Bray is getting it there.

You are overcomplicating a simple scenario possibly. In these specific plays in which you are concerned that Bray is staring down his receivers, are they in press man? Is the defense blitzing? Are the safeties over the top?

It's no always a negative thing to stare down a receiver. If I see Hunter or Rogers 1v1 with no help over the top, I'm gonna watch them off the line and throw it after a break. It would be a mistake to not take advantage.

I actually agree with the OP, there were several times that Bray didn't see the open receiver and threw into coverage. Rogers and Hunter made some amazing catches to bail him out. It's all good for our offense, but the receivers are really special.

he was holding the ball for 4-5 seconds at a time. He's been very good about getting rid of the ball even when the protection has been excellent.

The most specific example I can think of off the top of my head, is the 3rd and 8 in the 2nd quarter, when Bray threw to Hunter for 9 yards on a little in/curl route. He followed Hunter all the way (deathly obvious) and failed to notice that Rivera was wide open over the middle with nothing on him but his uniform. Could have been 6.

Where the heck have you seen this? Bray hasn't been staring at his WRs at all. He has actually been looking off the safety and then throwing the ball to Hunter or Rogers in 1 on 1 coverage. Not sure what games you have watched this year.

I am sure he missed more than one open receiver. But, I remember bray said after the game that cincy was squeezing the middle and leaving the flats relatively open. So, he concentrated in that area as well did the play calling.
