it's not even close....

Scoring Offense: 106th
Scoring Defense: 26th

Total Offense: 97th
Total Defense: 5th (1st in the SEC)

The defense hasn't played a decent offense yet. Also, most offenses we face won't be ultra-aggressive because it's pretty well-known you can beat UT by scoring 17 points.

i would say florida was pretty decent

I left out the qualifier I inserted into every other post I've made on the topic. The sentence should read:

"We haven't played a decent offense that's been trying to score."

Also, Florida's offensive yardage was dramatically reduced by the Vols' obscenely poor special teams play.

Opponent: Total Offense Rank/Scoring Offense Rank

UCLA: 111/98
UAB: 49/75
Florida: 47/21
Auburn: 104/103
NIU: 75/45

That isn't exactly murderers row.

BTW, UT is 97/106

Yea, Florida was up by 17 points before you can blink an eye. They then played ultra conservative offensively while they watched us continue to self destruct on offense.

That might be a tad dramatic, but the sentiment is right. You can bet that if Meyer thought he could have won by 84, he would have been busting his rump trying to do it. Instead, he put it in low gear and ground the game out for an easy win, but please don't get the impression that mercy had anything to do with it.

I don't think it was mercy. They just saw how much trouble we were having on offense, so they went conservative. This was the best possible scenario for the Gators. They got a quality win on the road without making Tebow carry the team and take extra hits. Plus they did not have to show a lot of their offense. Teams like Georgia looking at this tape for scouting purposes will find nothing on how to play Florida.

That's pretty much the way I saw it as well, but I've seen several posts on here inferring that Florida took it easy on us, and I don't really feel that was the case.

If they did take it easy on us it was only to rest Tebow. If Harvin and their other running backs would have been more effective they would have loved to score 59 points on us again.

The defense is innocent until proven guilty.

Haha, agreed. The only blemish on the D is letting UCLA walk down the field twice in the fourth quarter. We will see how they do against UGA on the road. That will be a true test or courtroom to conform with your analogy.
