Offense or Defense

With Bob Shoop calling the defense last year we would have been 12 - 0 or 11 - 1, so I'll go with the defense.

Also Shoop was the most exciting hire of a coordinator I've experienced in my nearly 30 years as a fan. We couldn't have hired a better play caller for the D we have in Knoxville.

You serious Clark? Dave Clawson and the Clawfense was by far the best hire I have witnessed in my 28 years of Volunteer football.

Defense wins championships, and can put our offense in very beneficial situations. It starts and ends with the defense this year. It would be nice if 21-28 points was enough every week.

The RB jump pass was run at Cincy...Kelce scored on it against Louisville iirc.

Yea I know. There was a thread funny enough I think the day before the Florida game showing the Cincy play and wondering if it would be run again.

I'm not saying he invented it, I'm saying he was inventive enough to use it.

The Vols need improvement from the defense and the offense if they are to have a championship season and provided Butch Jones doesn't go ultra conservative in the forth quarter

Offense, defense, and special teams. All three groups will have to play stellar if we are going to win the SEC and NT.

It would have to be the defense. Shoop will run it to perfection. On offense the run game will be good. But dobbs missing wide open receivers is gonna be the difference in 10-2 and 12-0.

How can it be the difference this year when it wasn't the difference last year?

We're 2 fourth down stops from being 11-1 last year.

It was stated in the course of Tuesday's SEC Media Days Coverage that Bob Shoop claimed that he "never met a blitz or press coverage that he didn't like." Big Orange fans who wanted a more aggressive defense most definitely will get their wish.

Now I want a more aggresive offense.

Hopefully Butch and DeBord take notes from Shoop.

ST will be a high lite film this year, not for the TD's but for what other teams do. Berry and Sutton are the best in the country and other teams know this. They will do their best to keep the ball away from these two. I can see good field position coming from the kickoff or punt going out of bounds or the punt being blocked because the punter is got Sutton on his mind. Either way ST should and will give offense good to great field position all year.

I hope luck is the most improved this year. You have to have a few lucky plays to win championships, no matter how good your team.
