Off season thread. What was everyone's favorite play from the 98 championship game?

Has to be Price's TD reception. A buddy of mine had just bought one of those boxy big screen TVs that he thought was one of the greatest things since sliced bread, but I got headaches from the eye strain. He was having a panic attack thinking the Vols were gonna blow it when Tee put it right in his hands. Peerless was running to the sidelines by the time I got him to realize the Vols had scored.

It was also the last time I used my grandpa's old 1960s style AM/FM radio that sounded better than his TV. I wanted to hear John Ward for the last time instead of Keith Jackson.

Yes this is a off season thread. I watched the Championship game vs Fl. St. last night. My favorite play was the bomb down the right side to Peerless. 79 yds for the TD.

Also the Defensive MVP award has gotta go to Al Wilson.

I just finished watching Alvin Kamara's rookie year highlights, we had a Heisman on the team and didn't know it or use it. Butch Jones was so laser locked at pleasing everyone, his offense should have been built around AK....what a waste of pure talent......I know he did very well despite, but he could have been a UT Legend.:loco:

Go Vols!!

Marcus Outzen was the 2nd string QB behind Chris Weinke, not 3rd string.

Could have and should have stopped here. That was the only wrong information......don't think the thread was full of misinformation.

Also, the ask was for favorite championship game play.

After the bomb to Price, I felt we were going to win. Still felt nervous until the Int. To be honest, what I remember most was listening to John Ward from a Nashville AM radio station call down the final plays. It is one of the few times I have cried as an adult over a sporting event.

You're right. On the latter point. :)

The pic six was awesome, especially when he collapsed into Smokey’s arms in the end zone

My favorite play of the '98 championship game is when Dale Carter had the kick 6 to start the 2nd half against FL in '90.

Not sure it's a play. But Fulmer took points off the Board in the 1st Q. Jeff Hall made the FG. Fulmer took the the points off the board on a penalty. Then immediately ran the little FB out pass to our speedy FB, that is near impossible to stop for less than 2-3yds. Give him six!

Big call by Phil against everyone's charts. "Never take points off the board"!

Not picking on anyone...but some of you need to read the title of this thread. It’s the championship game, not the season.

Saw that, but have enjoyed reading the comments regarding the actual comments regarding 98 game AND the ones on the whole season. Great memories, regardless. Here’s to hoping and faith, we will have new ones to share, and the Goodrich interception was the best for me, because I knew at that point, in my mind, we would pull it out.

One play/ decision that often goes unmentioned was Fulmer's decision to take the FG off the board and accept the penalty on FSU in the 1st quarter. Taking points off the board is always risky but UT was able to score a TD a couple of plays later.

It was HUGE! BOOM worthy..........

I recall in the days leading up to the Fiesta Bowl, Peter Warrick smirked and laughed when he heard Deon Grant wanted to cover him in man-to-man. Warrick finished the game with one catch for 7 yards, and on his best play of the game he got flat out dropped by a punter. History shows this was a NFL bust laughing at a 12 year vet.

Laughable.....AK didn't even make it through the first half of the Bama game.....

He's a good RB and the Saints use him wisely....but....c'mon man!!!
