Where does the Lady Vol program go from here? What can be done to make the returning players better? Thoughts for discussion?

Practice practice practice. Shooting lay ups, free throws, 12-15 footers. Mercedes has to get tougher, Cooper has to play under control, diamond needs consistency. Teams are not afraid of us anymore. Turnovers and poor shooting lost us many games. The coach has to fix it. GLV!!!

Another year and you would think they would be better, in all phases of the game...we'll see...a lot of time between now and next season...who knows, but, as always...

GO LADY VOLS!

We will be at this point once again next year, or worse, unless Holly learns to coach, or hire assistants that can. We did better in the last few games up until we lost to Syracuse. Tonight we were out coached and outplayed. I love Carter but she is a disaster. We reverted back to our old selves, turnovers, defense simply collapsed and looked dysfunctional. We have three point shooters but since they became Lady Vols they have a difficult time hitting their butts with both hands.

Holly has GOT to recruit some good players for 2016. They can come from JC, be unsigned 3 stars or graduate students with eligibility. The big issue is this staff lacks the ability to coach up their ball players. The Cuse do not have but one five star, but you hav to admit that Coach Hillmann has done a mush better job coaching up his players than we have with our seven All Stars.

Only one fix and that is to get new coaching..... current coach has had it since she took over the sidelines for Pat in Pat's last year...2011-12 I think....... that is 5 FULL YEARS... 30 years as assistant next to Pat and 5 years running the thing and falls woefully short of even being competent..... can't hire new assistants.... cause asst cannot overstep the capability of the head coach..... clean house!!

First and foremost--work on shooting. The 3pt shooting on this team was beyond dreadful this year. Outside of Dunbar (who shot a team leading 33.3%), everyone shot between 19-26%. That is downright awful. Reynolds, Middleton, Deshields, Cooper, Carter and Nared are all more than capable of shooting 35% from long range. If Tennessee can hit shots, it will open things up inside for Russell, where she can be a beast inside when she posts hard.

2nd-work on post entries and more ball movement offensively. I have no idea what happened in the Ohio State game, but the ball movement was OUTSTANDING! Players were looking for each other, dribbling inside the arc, setting screens, making cuts, etc. And the end result? A dominant win over a top 10 team! Graves and Russell combined for 39 points and 25 shots. That's what Tennessee needed more of today. Instead, they combined for less than half the number of shots they took on Friday's game, and the offense in the 2nd half was primarily swing the ball around on the perimeter looking for a post, but no screens set or actual quality ball movement. No penetrating the lanes, no screens, etc. Get some ball movement and you'll find success. Deshields did a great job of finding teammates this weekend. She needs to keep that mentality going into next year.

3. Better passing and better ball handling yields fewer turnovers. Deshields is a great player but can be extremely careless with the ball in her hands. She's very turnover prone and also passes the ball a bit too aggressively for players to catch sometimes. She does have great court vision and is capable of putting her teammates in a great position to score. She just has to aggressively look to get others involved instead of settling for out of rhythm jumpshots.

4. Recruiting. Tennessee is going to be awfully thin in the post next year, and honestly I'm still not sold on Middleton, Dunbar or Jackson breaking into the rotation next season. That leaves 6 players in Russell, Nared, Deshields, Carter, Cooper, and Reynolds to log the majority of the minutes. That lineup has good athleticism, but Tennessee needs more players whether it comes from JUCO/transfers/etc. The only transfer that I think Tennessee could land who would be eligible to play right away is Taya Reimer, but with all of the drama surrounding her at Notre Dame and her public passive aggressive tweets toward ND's women's program this season, I wouldn't touch her with a ten foot pole.

Holly has been the HC for 4 years. 3 Elite 8s, and 1 Sweet 16 with a .761 win %

I could win 76% of my games with this talent. I believe the talent is there... it's just getting them to reach their potential. I think they would ALL improve with a coach that can develop and implement like other coaches seem to do.

Here's my thoughts for your requested discussion.

The first thing is it seems like you might be really serious about you being the solution to the Lady Vols problems.

Well OK then if you apply for the job suggest you leave out your videos as part of your Resume of accomplishments.

Also suggest you leave out this Forum as a reference for anything.

I personally think you're going to have to lie like hell just to get an interview.... + you'll need a bunch of people swearing to those lies. That could be a tough one right there

I know my comments probably sound mean and I definitely am not trying to be but, you know, you asked for thoughts.

Could you think of a new fantasy to maybe pursue

Good luck to you if you Jump for it.

That is UNDERACHIEVING with the talent this team has had.

In the tourney games we have lost since Holly has been coach, we have complete meltdowns. This team is not mentally tough and does not play to its strengths and it happens year after year after year.

Okay. Holly has been the coach for four years and she has failed to win even one NC, no final fours, and her season winning percentage is dropping faster than a lead balloon. On top of that, she has absolutely NO RECRUITS for next year with strong rumors some players are about to jump ship. Thanks for reminding us how far this program has fallen in four years.

Pat hadn't been to a Final Four since 2008. So it's not like it's just Holly (I don't think she's the answer, just merely pointing out facts).

Yes I was making point that Holly has been Head Coach for 5 yrs.... de facto that one year when she had control of team.... Pat was not even on the sidelines for the games.... Holly was doing the coaching.....

And my point implicitly is that with 30 plus years as assistant..... that one year filling in for Pat who was head coach in name only, and now 4 years as sole head of team, I would think she would have picked up a pointer or two

Yes, lets celebrate all the Elite 8 games we have been to....

Doesn't mean anything to me..... the bar is not too high in WCBB.... we should be getting further.....

Yesterday, I saw poor shot selection, 20 plus turnovers to SYRACUSE no less..... and did you see when we got ball at end of first quarter 20 seconds left..... and didn't want to hold for one shot.... we shot with 10 seconds left, missed it, and let Syracuse score..... not good fundamental basketball.....

I am upset that the Orange are going to the Final Four.,... the WRONG orange!!! If you want to celebrate what Holly has done in her tenure , please go right ahead.....the Coach Q's of the world will keep blowing her doors off.

To me its not the losing. Its how we lose.
