I was listening to ESPN Radio earlier today and the host said Las Vegas is going to come out with over/under win totals for college football teams tomorrow.

I found over/under projections for the 12 SEC teams, with lines shaded and everything. It's pretty well done.

Two questions:
—Would you bet the Vols 'over' at that price?
—What do you think is a fair over/under when they are released tomorrow?

I'd wait to see what the official Vegas line is first. Too many reporters trying to be arm chair bookies attempting to stir the pot first. Vegas has a vested interest in what that line actually is and more often than not are spot on.

At that price, I wouldn't bet either.

Yeah, I think this is a case where, if the Vols over/under was set at 7, nobody would bet the over.

But at the same time, 6.5 isn't quite high enough, as many people would probably bet the over.

Over. I'd go with a solid 7 at that price. IF it were 7.5 or above, I wouldn't bet. :) Too risky at that point since we're still full of unknowns and hopeful anticipations.

My analysis of the Vols schedule:

DEFINITE WINS (4): Montana, Buffalo, Middle Tennessee, Vanderbilt.
LIKELY WINS (2): Cincinnati, at Kentucky
LIKELY LOSSES (4): At Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina.
DEFINITE LOSSES (2): at Alabama, at Arkansas.

If the Vols can steal a game, I think a 7-win season is possible.

I would bet over 6.5. My gut feeling is we get atleast 7 wins. I just don't see how they can put Georgia over/under 9 wins! They haven't won more then 7 in two years, and they are still having issues with keeping player out pf trouble. I may be wrong I just don't see it! Go vols!

7 and i'm not confident enough to bet either way. Our season could be the re-emergence of our program or an injury plagued/sophomore slump disaster.

I dunno how Likely Win and Kentucky can be in the same sentence.

This isn't thinking really. Kentucky is in the Definite Wins. Add Georiga to the Likely Wins. And Add Arkansas AND Bama to Likely Losses. No, Definite Losses.

Been saying 7 wins all offseason and sticking with it.

Mainly just tired of prognostication and ready for football though. Got NCAA 12 ariving in the mail tomorrow though, that should tide me over

Yeah, until Tennessee goes 9-3 in your simulated season and your expectations end up all out of whack.

On another note, the season win totals should be here tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing if the Vols are picked to finish higher than expected!

I would take the over. If we drop below 7, the lost money won't compare to the depression that will afflict me for the next 7 months.

9-2, losses to Bama and Arkansas. Could go either way with SoCar, either 10-2 or 9-3.

::sigh::

There's always a chance, right?
