If the announcement is set for Tuesday, I guess Cignetti's the guy.

I doubt Loeffler becomes the qb coach in Knoxville, because he's reportedly interviewed for the OC job at UCLA...there are pretty strong rumors that Ryan Mallett will follow Loeffler...if that's the case, I'd say Neuheisel will probably make an offer for the package deal.

Not sure about that J... I think there'll be another interview this weekend. Mostly I'm reading into Fulmer's lately vague quotes, but he's been speaking plural about who he'll be talking to this week before he makes a decision, and this is just one interview...

I hope you're right.

If it is Ciggy, I like that he has real play calling and game planning experience, and that he's a quarterbacks guy. Also, he's not full blown spread, which suits us. Seems a good fit if it happens...

He certainly had some prolific offenses at Fresno. Seems to have a lot of intensity and enthusiasm - and we've seen how big an impact those characteristics can have with the basketball team.

Cignetti, 42, has spent the last five seasons with the 49ers and was named the quarterbacks coach in March. His professional resume includes a stint as the quarterbacks coach with the New Orleans Saints (2000-2001) and offensive assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs (1999).
In the college ranks, Cignetti was the offensive coordinator at North Carolina in 2006, and served in the same position at Fresno State from 2002-2005.

How could he be with the 49ers the past five seasons and then be OC at Fresno State and UNC during the same time frame??? I was going to say that it is a big plus that he worked under Norv Turner, but it doesn't look like he did!

:lolabove:

This clarifies that he was only with the 49ers this year; so no experience under Norv Turner...

i just hope fulmer dont settle for someone not acceptable cause he wants to have a staff prepared by Jan.11 and because he is stubborn and thinks he has to run the offense, im surprised he hasn't named himself the new OC

This guy would be a good choice. He wasn't just a "WAC daddy" who put up big numbers against bad defenses in a weak conference. Fresno State put up big numbers in games against good teams from BCS conferences, too.

He also said today that no one is in town as of right now and don't think that there will be today.

Fulmer is going to the conference guys and I would say that we are just going to have to wait and see. I wish we were being told something. I think next Friday would be the latest a hire would be made and I think it will be made Tuesday and at the latest Wednesday.

Loeffler will probably go where Mallet is going just because it seems as if they are joined at the hip.
