I cant stop thinking about how Darrin Kirkland Jr. is the leader of a defense sporting 3 All- Conference players already.

Guess what DK is better than all of them.

Todd Kelly Jr. And Rashaan Gaulden are human highlight tapes.

Tyler Byrd and Alvin Kamara are going to take this offense to another level.

Dobbs, Hurd and Preston Williams are the 3 powers offense.

God Bless football!

This team is going to be better than anything we've seen. An Oregon offense with am LSU defense. Thats what we have.
Thats crazy to even think about that, BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS...

Misleading thread title. Instead of talking about your obsession with Tennessee football, you gave damn good reasons for it.

Granted, there were a whole lot of great games and players who called Neyland stadium home back then, and we won one national championship.

But our true time of greatness were the days of the General. When success was sustained year after year.

The difference between the 20 odd years you speak of and now? Hopefully, we now have the pieces in place to restore the sustained success. As long as some idiots don't screw it up.

Pro football fans don't act this way, and I can't really figure out why.

Can't figure out why? It's because pro football doesn't come close to the level of passion and tradition. SEC football is the life blood of the south, we live for fall Saturday's plain and simple.

Every game matters in college unlike the socialist agenda and design of the NFL. The BCS was a perfect design and the playoff has the potential to ruin it. If the playoff expands college football will suffer and so will it's fans.

College football keeps the south strong. On fall Saturday's a roaring crowd at Neyland can be heard 100s of miles away, echoing throughout the southland. It's gets louder as more talent amasses in the Wonder and it's not at full power yet. We seen but a glismpe of what Neyland is capable of in the OU and Florida games of recent years. Those games will soon be forgotten and a new age will dawn.

Friends of mine from all over this land have attended UT games over the last couple years and have been brought to tears by the shear size and atmosphere of Neyland stadium. They have seen playoff games at Arrowhead and Sports Authority and they don't hold a candle to Our house, our lives. They are NFL fans by choice. I am an SEC, Tennessee Volunteer by blood. It's an insult to compare the NFL to college football in the south.

"Last year, he was a true freshman, so I am sure at times it was a bit overwhelming to him. His football IQ is really high. He is taking command of the huddle, and he is a real leader out there. His pursuit to the football has been as good as anybody on the team and as good as anybody I have seen at that position in a while. It has been pretty impressive to watch."
- Bob Shoop on Darrin Kirkland Jr

Darrin Kirkland is 6'1" 235 lbs and runs a 4.5...
Those are just his measurables. His instincts, and IQ are 2nd to none.

And hes flanked by simply the best defender Tennessee has had since Eric Berry- Jaylen Reeves-Maybin

Alabama's OLB/DE tandem, as good as they are, can't disrupt the way Maybin and Kirkland do.

With these two leading our defense, we will have a chance to make a big stop when needed.
