Observation as an outsider ... Trey Smith

I know we cheer for different teams, but to me, the Trey Smith medical condition sounded REALLY serious. I don't care enough about any game to want anything bad happening to the kid, and I say "kid" in jest because that is a REALLY BIG KID. But he is also an uber talented lineman so I know you guys want to see him out there. Here's to hoping that Trey is completely healthy every time he takes the field because life is bigger than the game. I'd rather the Dawgs have to deal with him for the next 3 years than know he went out for something that sounded as bad as it could have been.

Top O linemen are getting 8 figures in the NFL. This young man is certainly capable joining that tax bracket. But, it ain't worth his life. I hope he is heavily, constantly monitored from now on. When in doubt, sit out.

This is exactly my sentiment. Hoping for his sake that it all works out and he can keep chasing the dream but there is a lot of life left if that isn't the bigger plan medically

Rest assured, Trey Smith will be monitored very very closely by the medical staff and coaches

Ruined Chris Bosh’s career let’s hope it’s not similar to that and he stays clear the rest of his life.

There are a lot of things in life that are bigger than the game. A player's health is one of the biggest.

THE biggest and he seems like a really good guy. Guessing he is still on the blood thinners which means they have to REALLY watch him during practice.

It's pretty bad when someone so young has to deal with blood clots. It's something that he will have to deal with for the rest of his life.

He was on blood thinners but has since been taken off of them. I'm assuming the reason he isn't cleared for contact yet is because they are waiting for the thinners to get completely out of his system.

Having dealt with PE’s I can say Trey MAY go the rest of his life and never deal with blood clots again. Certainly the danger is there and he’s now more susceptible to have them again. But inactivity is the single worst thing one can do dealing with clots. Plane flights will be an issue and long car trip will have to be broken up into shorter drives and stops for exercise and walking it off. It can happen to the young, old, bedridden, and superior athletes and anybody in between . It’s a killer but I feel good about Trey because I’m sure he’ll have scans and ultrasounds regularly to keep an eye on it.

Dead on... as one how also had them and is now on blood thinners for the rest of his life... the major concern is what caused them... that can determine the likeliness of them coming back or never happening again... but yes close monitoring is required... also from what I read... Trey does not want to live his life in a "bubble", for that I applaud him and ask him to be careful the same..

Gotcha, that's good news because working out on those things can be rough, much less a full scale football practice. I really want to see the kid get to the league so getting off the meds and back on the field is the first step to that. If he can't stay off them, could be the wrong path.
