It's an RPG, similar to Diablo (if you've ever played that)

I've put in roughly a bazillion hours on that game.

The same crew is coming out with Fallout 3 next year, which has a very real possibility of being the best game released on the 360. Period.

I heard F.E.A.R. was a freakin' scary game. I work at BB and everyone that's played it has recommended it.

I remember Fallout for the PC- good old turn based fighting

Uh, no. If you have a computer that can handle it, the PC version is way better. I have a buddy that actually shelled out for an Alienware PC (settlement money) and got a chance to play F.E.A.R. on it. It might go back to my days of playing Doom as to why I like FPS on PC's so much more, but I liked it loads better than on the 360 (which was still good).

Yeah- the span of this game is immense. It's going to take me forever to beat it.

You don't ever really "beat" the game.

Really, though, with the add-ons and such, one hundred percenting this game would probably take about 200-250 hours, possibly more depending on how you play it.

My brother has never fast-traveled anywhere. It makes you level up much faster. The enemies do get much tougher, but you get a far better selection of cooler armor, weapons and magic you can start creating.

I have a Spellsword character- I need to raise my conjurations up and get a meat shield to help me. I can go toe to toe with just about anything, but even in heavy armor, it hurts!

Not really similar at all- as far as game play goes. Ever played Diablo?? It's like that, but in first person.

FF is turn based- Elder Scrolls is real time combat. FF tends to keep you on 1 storyline. ES have you in 5-10+ storylines at once with much more freedom on what you do and the outcomes/consequences. Just a few key examples.

Smokey, Oblivion is about the farthest from a rental game there is in existance. Swil's right, it's incredibly addictive. Final Fantasy is relatively linear, Elder Scrolls games are open-ended. In fact, that's the complaint some have about them (Morrowind in particular) is that there's no guidance. You can literally go and do anything you want. There is a somewhat central storyline, but you don't have to do it. You can log 150+ hours on it easy just doing side quests.
